Re: Wayfinder Map app won't update

I'm very weary of doing un-installs, it seems some of the packages don't
properly un-install, they over un-install; remove more then they should.

+1 on this. This is definitely the most straightforward route for most
people.

2008-06-20 Thread Mark
I don't think that works. I think it's an upgrade-only package and
doesn't include the full package. It's definitely smaller than the
full install download. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and the
upgrade still showed on the list afterward.

You could also uninstall the installed version first. Then you will be
able to install the new version without problems.

Re: Wayfinder Map app won't update

2008-06-20 Thread Denis Dimick
Mark,

The other way to upgrade would be to open X-Windows, become root, then enter
this command: apt-get update; apt-get upgrade

The first command updates your repository list, the second upgrades any
packages found. the ";" just tells unix to run the second command after the
first.

I believe the Map application can be updated in Red Pill mode:

Remember to put it back into BluePill mode after updating.

Wayfinder Map app won't update

2008-06-19 Thread Mark
The Wayfinder Map app is showing in my list of updates in the
Application Manager, but every time I try to update it it says:
"Unable to install. Software contains updates to packages installed
from a different source and is likely to harm the system. Contact
software author."

Does anybody know how to get Map to update properly? All the other
updates went fine.
