(btw: you have to reboot your host and client to see this happening) i had to retry 3 times a new installation because of freezes... maybe the OP could specify a few things on how exactly what happens when doing what?

[Mageia-dev] mentor wanted
hello, I'd like to help the packaging effort of Mageia. I am doing rpm for myself for a while, and even contributed a few to Mandriva a while ago. I plan to start with a cleanup to mageia of some mandriva srpms I miss : - cultivation https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=705 - subtitleeditor https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=714 I have tried to follow the mentor process : http://mageia.org/wiki/doku.php?id=packaging#mentoring So I ask is someone willing to mentor me? Thanks
[Mageia-dev] [HDT] New release 0.5.0-beta3
HDT is currently ending its beta cycle before achieving the 0.5.0 release. This is a pretty big step for HDT as it features a highly requested feature aka Dumping. The major feature of this release allow users to export the result of the detection to a TFTP server. All the details and the links to download it can be found here : http://www.hdt-project.org/wiki/Dump I didn't got any feedback on beta2, that's my last call before release that will occurs by the end of this week. Note to the mageia mailing list readers : As HDT is integrated at boot time of the installation process, I would like to integrate this 0.5.0 release on the incoming mageia. So would be nice if some of you can spend a little time on testing this release. Download links can be found here : http://www.hdt-project.org/wiki/hdt-0.5.0 Cheers, Erwan

I had the same problem on Cooker in January, and Ahmad pointed me to this: http://svn.mandriva.com/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/packages?view=revision&revision=549898 wine and wine64 are already installed, maybe from taking the package list from my last cooker system as a base for mageia on this system. It looks like wine shouldn't be here at all on an x86_64. I'll remove it, and the next time I do a fresh install based on this system's package list, I'll check whether it comes back and how.

Hi, No, I don't have any ETA for it (and the 7th of april date seems to come out of nowhere), but we are making some progress here. Thanks to you dmorgan, libreoffice can now be installed without java, and the live CD sizes appear to be fine: 598M mageia-livecd-1-beta1-GNOME-int-cdrom-i586.iso 615M mageia-livecd-1-beta1-GNOME-int-cdrom-x86_64.iso 688M mageia-livecd-1-beta1-KDE4-int-cdrom-i586.iso 704M mageia-livecd-1-beta1-KDE4-int-cdrom-x86_64.iso Also, the theme should now be ok for GNOME live images. Though, we still have a few issues remaining: - KDE: missing draklive-install icon on desktop -> it seems that the code to handle /usr/share/mga/desktop/ in /usr/share/kde4/env/kde4-firstsetup.sh is commented dmorgan, mikala: could you have a look? - KDE: install error about kdm not found - check that draklive-install entries in menu contain our distro name, not the legacy one -- Olivier Blin - blino

For git ( used so far by forums ), everything is on git.mageia.org, but we didn't setup yet a git web interface nor documented it yet because we are busy doing others things, and our git setup is kinda still experimental, no commit hooks, etc, etc. > Also a question: has the package system (rpm) known some core change > since Mandriva time or it is internally the exact same thing? > Thanks again. That's rather the contrary, we kept the same rpm branch ( the one from rpm.org ) and mandriva switched to another branch called rpm5. Usage is the same, packages are mostly the same, but I guess internally, there was lots of changes. -- Michael Scherer

[Mageia-dev] Source code repository somewhere?
Hello all, I just got interested into having a look in Mageia code. But I have been searching the website and the wiki and either I am very tired today, or it is very well hidden, else there is no link to any source repository. I only found a mention in one page of the wiki (think to remember it was the teams page) which says that the information about the repository will be given later (?!). You do have a public repository for the Mageia project, right? Would it be possible to have its location? Or if not yet any public repository, is it possible to have credentials (read-only is ok)? Thanks. Jehan
