I didn't realize at the time that 0.17.x is the development branch for the eventually 0.18.x stable series. The apparent advantages of the 0.17.x branch, from the 0.17.0 announcement: • Implement WLM jidlookup. Yes. We're in a freeze period and shouldn't generally be switching to newer stable branches without a really good reason to do so. Squid 3.2.x is still supported upstream, and isn't terribly old, so should be supported for a while I'd expect. 3.3.x is brand new. It can wait for after Mageia 3.

Hello, Currently we have x11-server 1.13.2.902 in cauldron, is the version targeted with mga3 be 1.13.x stable? If yes, then we should upgrade to 1.13.3 now. Thanks.

Yes I forgot - thanks. The main reason is that we would be stuck with an old version for the life of mga3. It's just bad timing that upstream released this now. It does not impact on anything else.
