Maybe it can be coordinated with the planned mass-rebuild to reduce the
transition period ?

Anyway, I think it's a good idea.

You have to write a unit file for systemd, something named like
oidentd.service
It's not very complicated, provided you know the options of
the daemon.
http://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.unit.html
http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/systemd-for-admins-3.html
http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/

Dev of Archlinux have already written a unit file for oidentd, you should
be able to adapt it for mageia without a lot of headache :
https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/service?h=packages/oidentd

[Mageia-dev] /var/run & /var/lock on tmpfs ?

I didn't see anything about moving /var/run & /var/lock to tmpfs or
symlink them to /run & /run/lock ( see also

Is there something planned to mga3 ?

[Mageia-dev] Mgaqueue, a small queue for BS

2012-03-13 Thread Julien
Hi,

I have written a small bash script to ease the pushing of multiple package
on the build system.
It takes a list of packages as argument (or a file with the list), submit
them one after another, while waiting for completion between each package.
It aborts when a failure occurs.

you can find it here :
https://gitorious.org/mgaqueue

I'm already using it since some times to update compiz and mikala use it for
kde. So it shouldn't eat your kitten.

hope it could help

I would like to drop gqview (the image viewer) in favor of geeqie

Hi,

We talked about it in the bugreport
( https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4394 ) but it's true i18n team is
not CC. Sorry. Good to know it's going to be fixed correctly in Transifex :)
(btw, is there a description of the problem somewhere?)
In the meantime, we have something which works now.

Yes, and I don't understand why it doesn't work out of the box, as compiz
provide compiz-fusion. Or is it another bug (i.e. compiz is installed but
does not start ?)

Hi,

Not sure you got my previous mail, but I've got few questions regarding
the switch :
 - aspell and myspell both provides enchant-dictionary and respectively
aspell-dictionary and myspell-dictionary but hunspell doesn't. Could we
have this kind of provides added to hunspell-xx ? When
suggested/required, it allows than at least one dictionary is installed.

 - enchant doesn't find hunspell dict, it search in %datadir/dict/ooo
(where myspell install them) and hunspell dict are in %datadir/myspell/.
Should this be fixed at enchant level or at hunspell level ?

Hi,

I will submit a new compiz (latest git) this evening, hopefully it will
correct your problems (at least in part) and not introduce too much other.

[Mageia-dev] RFC Compiz 0.9.x

2011-11-26 Thread Julien
Hi all,

Now that alpha 1 is out. I intend to push compiz to
core/release soon.
At the same time, I will make some modification to the packaging of
compiz and co :

 - rename compiz-fusion-plugins-(main|extra) to
compiz-plugins-(main|extra), it's simpler and in line with upstream
   naming.
 - rename fusion-icon to compiz-fusion-icon, it will be more discoverable
 - kill compiz-fusion, it's only a launcher script (named compiz-fusion), a
empty pref file and require others compiz packages. In order to not
break existing config, the script and the empty file will go in
compiz package. Compiz itself will suggest ccsm and plugins.

Any objections ?

Cheers
Julien

Hi,

I would prefer to not send mail by default (Michael Scherer's
proposition) but if it's not possible, I vote for dma.

Everything is compiled except compiz-fusion-plugins-extra which fail on BS
with cryptic error. If someone has an idea. (It compiles locally without
problem).

[Mageia-dev] Compiz 0.9.x (at last)

2011-11-06 Thread Julien
Hi,

I just submitted the latest version (0.9.5.92) of compiz to update_testing.
It's a development version with a complete rewrite so even if it
should work, I think you can expect some breakage.
At least fusion-icon doesn't seems to work anymore.

Please test and report :)

Hi,

(before continuing, keep in mind that I'm an apprentice since one week,
so please forget me if I seem too presumptuous)

0.9.x series is an unstable series with major modification
between release and some tools (such as the decorator emerald) are not
yet available.

So I would prefer doing it in 2 steps :
 - update current compiz to 0.8.8 (and if possible, backport it to
   mageia 1) and importing emerald
 - when 0.9.x series will be more stable, upgrade to 0.9

WDYT ?
