[Mageia-dev] Kernel issues with atheros wifi
Hi... I've been bitten by this bug: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=139270p=1 on my netbook. From what I read, ath9k bug is corrected in 3.3.2, and ath5k bug is still present and a couple patches are needed. Are we too late to have a patched 3.3.2 in Cauldron ? TIA -- J.A. Not sure if this is relevant but I had the same problem and looks like the solution for the laptop I was servicing was this (I left this on the thread that I had started on the user mailing list[1]): Just letting people know of the fix for this unit. The laptop's owner returned it so that I could work on a possible fix to the wifi connection. After some testing and trouble shooting, I deleted the NetworkManager through the MCC which allowed a more reliable connection and I also created this file in etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf with the line options ath9k nohwcrypt=1 which for some unknown reason made for an even more solid connection -- I found this recommendation on a thread somewhere but lost the location. The laptop now connects to the internet and does not turn itself out, and, it no longer cuts in and out randomly. Cheers, Marc [1] http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.mageia.user/6497
