[Mageia-dev] Un-cleaned drak packages

2011-05-27 Thread Ahmad Samir
Right now there're 3 packages that were imported without cleaning:
drakstats
drakwizard
drakfax

They should be reviewed before release, and either get cleaned (if
needed) or removed from the repos until they're cleaned.

Isn't it a bit late to be removing packages?

How will this impact upgrading from 2010.2?

Since those packages are no longer available, will the existing
mandriva versions get removed, or will they be left to block upgrades,
 as they have mandriva dependencies?

In my opinion, they should be left in, with an errata entry stating
 that they still need cleaning.

No can do; if they're not cleaned they can't be in the official repos
due to copyright/trademarks/legal-soup issues.

Anyway, status update:
o drakwizard: cleaned by Anne and is good to go
o drakfax: the code hasn't been touched in ~2years, so it's been
removed from the repos as it's not really supported
o drakstats: it needs server-side support, this isn't viable for
Mageia 1; so it's been removed for now, until such a time that support
is implemented in the Mageia servers.

After upgrading drakfax will be considered, by urpmi, as an orphan
package as it's not required/suggested by anything any more. As for
drakstats, nothing suggests/requires it already, users who have it,
will have to remove it manually, though maybe something should
obsolete for now... (I'll ask on IRC).
