[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1423793] Re: Where to direct users when they are done editing a pag?
I like the 'Display page' button at bottom of the page. I could work on my page, scroll down, click 'Display page' and confirm that it looks the way I want it. If it needs further editing, I click 'edit page' again and so forth. Status in Mahara ePortfolio: Triaged Bug description: Normally, when I am in the process of editing or when I am finished editing a page, I wand to see what it looks like without the editing tools being in the way. I seem to have two choices: Clicking 'Display page' in the in-page-tab will do what I want. Clicking 'Done' at bottom of page brings me back to list of pages and I have to find the page again and click it. This is why I tend to ignore this button completely. I noticed that new users have trouble remembering the location of the 'Display page' button. Idea: Duplicate 'Display page' and place at bottom of page next to 'Done'. Rename 'Done' button to 'Other pages' or something similar. I could then choose if I wanted to see the page or go and edit other pages. [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1423793] Re: Where to direct users when they are done editing a pag?
Currently, when you click the Done button, you are taken back to your pages overview. If that is not an action that users want to take but rather want to display their page, we could change the Done button into Display page. That would be useful for long pages when you don't want to scroll all the way up again in order to click the Display page tab. I would be hesitant though to replicate all tabs from the top at the bottom. If all those links should be present at all times, I think a different solution should be thought that keeps them available no matter where you are on the screen like the content chooser panel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mahara Contributors, which is subscribed to Mahara. [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1423793] Re: Where to direct users when they are done editing a pag?
I agree we should do something about that Done button at least, because at present it doesn't do anything, and that's misleading. When I see a Done button I naturally assume that I need to click on it in order to save the changes I've been making; and moreover, that the changes I've made so far will be reverted if I don't click Done. Neither of those is true in Mahara currently. I'm not sure that I like the idea of adding buttons labelled Display page and Other pages, when they would duplicate existing links at the top of the page. ** Tags added: usability ** Changed in: mahara Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: mahara Importance: Undecided = Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mahara Contributors, which is subscribed to Mahara. [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1423793] Re: Where to direct users when they are done editing a pag?
Totally agree -- great idea. I'm the chief Mahara Tsar at our College and I wasn't even aware of the 'Display Page' option. To me, 'Done' means 'cooked' so I'm in total affirmation with this idea. Plus, changes are saved as you go along, right, so the next thing you want to do normally would be to display your page -- you don't have to save it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mahara Contributors, which is subscribed to Mahara.
