[Mailman-Users] question
Hello I was wondering how many subscribers can this program handle? Do you know anyone with a big list. I have 61,000 and was wondering if it can handle it without timing out and how long would it take to send it out? James
[Mailman-Users] Feature request
I don't know what happened since version 2.06, but could you consider adding some archival options: - Other archive formats like zip.(somehow my WinRar does not read the format while it usually does). - The ability to archive Text-only, or HTML. It will be hard to explain to some to put their email program in text - only. Result is an unreadable code. Do you know of any utility to convert it into plain text or HTML? For the rest a good program. René
[Mailman-Users] List categories
Hi, after having searched a bit in the Python archives and in Mailman Whishlist of mailman software, I post a question here: I use mailman since about 3 days (!!), and I realise that we're going to need list categories. Is it possible to do this, may be using another software ? Thanks very much for any pointer on that topic, N. [Mailman-Users] mysterious bounce
Hello: I'm attempting to set up mailman 2.0.8: Solaris 8 Python 2.1.2 Qmail 1.03 I send a message to a list "developers". Everything seems fine, the message is received by mailman, gets archived. There no errors dumped to syslog or to $prefix/logs/error, nor are any messages reported by qmail after the message has been delivered to mailman. The message is not sent back out to the members of the list, and the following appears in the "bounce" log file: Feb 01 14:18:02 2002 (26342) Developers: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - 1 more allowed over 430138 secs Other than this, there is no evidence of the bounce, or even of mailman trying to send the mail. Since I get the list owner's info message when creating the list, I'm convinced that mailman knows how to send mail, but it doesn't appear to by trying to distribute the message to the list. The only other log messages to appear anywhere, including syslog, after mailman has received the mail are: logs/smtp: Feb 01 14:18:02 2002 (26342) smtp for 1 recips, completed in 0.257 seconds logs/post: Feb 01 14:18:02 2002 (26342) post to developers from [EMAIL PROTECTED], size=366, 1 failures Blah :-) Any help? bucky -- Mailman-Users maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users
[Mailman-Users] unsubscribing without the use of passwords?
Dear Reader(s), Currently im trying to help one on our customers solving a problem dealing with people wanting to unsubscribe from a certain mailing list. The customer is using mailman for the first time and asked me wether its possible for people on the list, to unsubscribe without having to use their password.(the password that they get sent in the monthly reminder) I've been looking through the FAQ, and the only answer i found is that it doesnt seem possible what this customer wants. I didnt find a box to tick/untick which has an option to make it an unsubscription possible without a password. On the old mailinglist system this customer was using it was possible. I would be very pleased if you could answer this question for me. I personally expect that its not possible what this customer wants. [Mailman-Users] users confused about unsubscribing
Hi, first of all I'd like to say that Mailman is great. However, there's one thing about it that I think could be improved. I find that users are confused about how to unsubscribe, and then they email me asking me to remove them from the list because they couldn't figure it out themselves. It's irritating having to answer that question. I think what happens is this: the user receives another message from the mailing list, and decides they no longer want to be on the list. So they look to the instructions at the bottom of the email. There is the URL there, so they click the URL which takes them to the lists page. Then they see the sections/titles on that page: About Discussion Using Discussion Subscribing to Discussion Discussion Subscribers But wait, there's no option there for unsubscribing! So then they email me asking how to unsubscribe. Yes, I know if you look more carefully, if you read the text at the end of the "Discussion Subscribers" section, it says: "To change your subscription (set options like digest and delivery modes, get a reminder of your password, or unsubscribe from Discussion), enter your subscription email address". And then click "Edit Options", and THEN on that second page you can enter your password to unsubscribe. But users don't see that. I even missed it myself the first time. It's easy to miss because it's a single word in a sentence that is talking about something completely unrelated (editing options). What would be much better is if you added another title/section similar to the "Subscribing to Discussion" section but titled "Unsubscribing". And you type in your email address and your password, and click the "Unsubscribe" button. Then it would be clear and obvious. Thanks. http://www.haxial.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Mailman-Users maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users
[Mailman-Users] Just a question - Language support
Hallo, I am Esther Pulido from Spain, Canary Island. I have just installed mailman in my webmail server and everything is working right. The problem is that the users of this server do not understand much English. Have you got language support, so that they may receive the admin-messages in Spanish? Thanks a lot for your attention. then you are in business, kinda. I think if you specify the web-gid incorrectly, it gives you an informative screen telling you what you did wrong. Are you using apache on the webserver? Paste the relavent config information from your apache config. Kelemen Zoltan wrote: > well, I wasn't subscribed to it, but that didn't help. did you set up the cronjobs for the mailman user? Particularly the qrunner cronjob? Look in 'qfiles' and see if there are messages in there. [Mailman-Users] Everithing loks fine, but it just won't work
I just installed mailman 2.0.8 , configured it properly (well at least I think so :) ), and even created my very first test-list. I've got the mail, confirming it was created, added the aliases to the alias file and everything but when I wanted to check out the web interface it wasn't working. It ain't working in the sense that it soesn't accepts any new subscriptions, it doesn't accept any kind of password (neither admin nor site)... otherwise, I can see the list, it's there, it has been created, I "just" can't access it. Take a look at it youselves: http://www.kmdsz.ro/mailman/admin or http://www.kmdsz.ro/mailman/listinfo the admin password for list "teszt" is "teszt".
