[Mailman-Users] changing contact-addr at listinfo+admin-mainpage

2002-02-27 Thread Jonas Meurer

Hello,

I already have posted this 1 week ago. Can nobody help me?
How can I change the 'send question or comments to'-Addr on the main-
listinfo and admin-page? The domain isn't right. I've set
DEFAULT_HOST_NAME, but this mail-addr is still another hostname.

Bye
 Jonas

[Mailman-Users] wildcards in members accepted for posting

2002-02-27 Thread Jonas Meurer

Hello,

Is it possible to set wildcards in the field 'Addresses of members
accepted for postings to this list without implicit approval
requirement' in Privacy Options?
Like every addr from domain xyz.com is allowed to post without approval
requirement.
If yes, how?
*@xyz.com
or
xyz.com

Thanks
   Jonas

Can anyone just tell me if it is possible put this solution to work?
 IPLANET+MAILMAN+SOLARIS

Yes, I have Mailman on Solaris working with iPlanet. However, I am using
sendmail as the mail server.

2002-02-27 Thread Jon Carnes

As a last resort you can always go into the web-admin and simply edit the
page to show the proper information.
When editing the page, you will want to replace: MM-Mailman-Footer with
any html or text that you wish to appear instead.

Re: [Mailman-Users] I Suppose that MailMan doesn't work with IPLANET/NETSCAPE Messaging?

2002-02-27 Thread Jon Carnes

Thanks for your comments. At the present I have Iplanet Messaging as
Mail server and Apache as WebServer.

The web server component is working Ok. I just followed the
 instructions.

About the mail server the situation is:

   - The aliases for the mailing list are created.
   - Every mail for the list is redirected to the wrapper
   - I`ve tested the redirection of the mail with another script ... and
 it worked.
   - No error appears on the iplanet logs
   - No error appears on the Mailman logs
   - UID`s are correct

I assume you mean GID's here, since mailman does not use UID's but does use
Group ID's to check for rights...

Anyway ... when I send an email to the list, the users never receive it
 back!

Any idea of what can be wrong, or who can I debug the process?

Did you create a user called mailman and a group called mailman? Did you
setup the crontab for the user mailman so that it runs qrunner every minute?
What happens when you run qrunner manually (check out the cron entries for
the valid format)?

Re: [Mailman-Users] reverse-chronological order

2002-02-27 Thread Jon Carnes

Interestingly enough, my archives all have the latest emails at the top
(what you call reverse chronological order). That seems to be the default.
I'm using Mailman version 2.0.8.

I would expect this is a very standard concern that people have: by
default,
all my archives are in chronological order -- which is patently stupid.
This
means that new messages accumulate toward the bottom, so on a high-volume
list, you must scroll down the page to see the newest message.

My question is: how can I change my archives to reverse-chronological
order?
I was surprised that there was no toggle for this in the admindb.

 cheers,
 Kirez

 Sergio,

In a subsequent message, you mentioned that you have the aliases
created.
Did you run newaliases to rebuild the database for the mail aliases
file?

Iplanet Messaging Server doesn't require to run newaliases. In fact,
what I did wasn't create aliases ... but new users on LDAP that have
there emails as the aliases that should be created for each list.

You also mentioned that the redirection of the mail with another
script
worked. I assume you ran it locally. Did you register the alias for
your
 list?

Yes .. it was run locally. What I did was create a script that writes de
input (the mail that arrives to the list alias) to a file. What I mean
with that is Iplanet is processing well the mail and sending it to the
script. When I replace with the correct script
(|/usr/local/mailman/wrapper post list) nothing happens.

Also, did you check your syslog, system messages, or system mail?
 (/var/log/syslog, /var/adm/messages, /var/mail/)

For Iplanet ... and for Solaris ... everything is OK! Tha problem must
be on the wrapper application! Or in my Mailman configuration!

 Hope this helps,
 Anna

 Thanks for your support,

 Sergio Sousa

Re: [Mailman-Users] I Suppose that MailMan doesn't work withIPLANET/NETSCAPE Messaging?

2002-02-27 Thread cms

Serigo,

NMS and iMS are _not_ the same product. I hate what we (I work for
Sun) did with the branding. Most products we simply rebranded iPlanet
but when it comes to mail that really is not fair and it could be the
same thing for other products as well.

iMS is the best components of 3 products, PMDF (MTA), SIMS (Domain
Hosting), and NMS (store, pop, imap, webmail). Note that SIMS gets its
MTA from PMDF as well.

From the other posts that I've read you are using NMS 4.15. If your
software license premits it upgrade to iMS as fast as you can. (iMS
5.2 may have just RTM'd today.) I've done such upgrades not hard to
do. The learning curve is the MTA.

While I run mailman here at home, due to local issues, it runs on a
different machine than iMS. Mailman uses the local MTA (sendmail)
which then forwards everything off to iMS for delivery.

Eventually I'll migrate the mailman installation I have running over to
be all iMS. Majordomo and Mailman have similar interfaces with the MTA
(wrapper) and since I know that Majordomo has been done with PMDF, I'm
willing to bet that Mailman can be integrated with iMS.

As for NMS, I am blissfully ignorant about most parts of it. I know
many us in Sun can not wait until that product is EOL'd.

Regards,
Chad

[Mailman-Users] Pending Subscriptions

2002-02-27 Thread Sarah K. Miller

I used dumpdb on pending_subscriptions.db and found a whole list of
subscriptions in there waiting to be processed. However, I don't know what
lists they're for. Is there any way to find out? I tried looking at the
individual requests.db for each list, but they are all empty. We have over
80 lists on our system and I don't relish the idea of having to go to the
web interface for each one to check for pending subscriptions!

Is there no header information stored with the requests? The header should
