[Mailman-Users] Re: good enhancement for MM3
Hi This is a reply to a message sent a while ago; 1] It seems that the question of Announcement Only lists is a regular one, could this configuration not be offered as a built-in one-button option? 2] I am new to Mailman and using the Apple version so excuse me if I am taking twaddle. One thing I notice with it is if you delete a list via the Apple GUI, it does not delete the archives. I guess this is a Apple issue but I cant see a delete archive / clear cache type option via the web interface; that would be useful. Actually, I don't even see the Delete this List option via the Web interface. MA Subject: Mailman-Users Digest, Vol 7, Issue 13 Is there a way to backup the user list in Mailman? This would be a good enhancement for MM3, although if MM3 has a heavier-duty datastore, this problem may solve itself. -- Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/
Re: [Mailman-Users] OutgoingRunner Failing
Hi all, I have the OutgoingRunner process failing quite regularly, and this has resulted in a build up of mail in the qfiles/out directory. How do I find out what is going on in this process for it to be failing like this? I experienced the same problem running Mailman 2.1.5 on a FreeBSD 4.6 box. I couldn't find anything telling in the logs. I upped the number of times that the qrunner would restart from 10 to 50. Still had the problem occur. Now I have a cron job restart mailman every 4 hours. Nothing backs up in the outgoing directory now and I haven't notice any residual problems from this change. This doesn't get to the source of the problem though. :( I figured it might be something with the content of the messages but with hundreds of lists running on 4 different servers it isn't something easily tracked down. Additionally no other mailman users complained about it until now. [Mailman-Users] mass subscribe with real names
I've poked around the docs and google and haven't seen this documented - did I miss it? I have a sizeable list of folks that need to be added to a new list. I'd like to be able to mass subscribe them by uploading a file and include their real names at the same time. Is this possible? [Mailman-Users] Lost the raw archive link?
Surely I'm missing something obvious (as usual), but this one has me stumped. A list owner requested I eliminate his current archives so he can begin anew for the quarter. I did this, as I have a few other times in the past, using the guidelines in the FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=showfile=faq03.003.htp In short, I deleted the /$HOME/archives/private/listname directory, erased the listname.mbox/listname.mbox and re archived. No problem, this works as always and the list is now accepting archived anew as intended. The problem is that the list owner pointed out that doing this seems to have eliminated the option to download the full raw archive which he uses regularly. I am stumped as to why. I looked at a couple other lists on which I've performed this action in the past, and see that the same result has occured. Is it safe to just add this link in the archive index.html? Or is it going to be overwritten again when /bin/arch is next exectuted? And is there a way to perform this archive housekeeping that prevents this from happening? -- warren woodward XMission DSL Domo/Mailman [EMAIL PROTECTED] (801) 303-0819 (877) XMISSION -- Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/

[Mailman-Users] Incorrect cookie values
Hi: I have several mailman lists up and running without any problem. I added a new list yesterday and I am unable to admin the list. I am able to log in to the admin side of the list but when I attempt to save changes that I have made I am kicked back to the login page. I figured that the cookie wasn't being set for some reason. Further investigation revealed that the cookie is being set but the contains incorrect information. The path is being set as /mailman when it should be /listname. I verified this using the lists that I had previously set up and they still continue to set the correct cookie values and I am able to admin those lists. I am running version 2.1.3. Where can I manually change the values that are being sent in the cookie or is there a better solution to this problem? Thanks for any assistance. [Mailman-Users] command-line query
Hi all, I am running Mailman v2.1.2 on a Linux Enterprise box. The membership of a number of our lists is dynamic and needs to be changed daily. I run a cronjob each morning that unsubscribes everyone and then re-subscribes the new members. Works fine with one slight hassle: I can't figure out how to doctor the 'moderation' flag from the command-line. By default the list is moderated, but some of the subscribers added are not to be moderated. Naturally I don't want to have to go into the GUI interface each day and change those flags! How can I set that from command line? It doesn't seem to be in the FAQ. No. (And if there were, you would need to shut down Mailman, or at least lock the list across multiple operations (unhide, who, hide) to avoid other accesses changing things during that window.) You can get the complete subscriber list from the bin/list_members command if you have shell access on the server. The site password should work anywhere a password is required. If it doesn't, maybe you aren't using the correct password. If necessary, you can set a new site password with bin/mmsitepass (bin/mmsitepass --help for more info). Perhaps you misunderstood what was meant by MailMan administrator's password in the original reply.
