[Mailman-Users] created a list, but don't get any emails
OS: Redhat enterprise (7.2) Mailman: 2.1.2 MTA:Sendmail Hi, I'm a total newbie with Mailman and I can't figure out the problem I'm having. I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out all day. I just installed Mailman 2.1.2 and created a new list via the web interface. But when I try to add a new subscriber (me) using the web or bin/add_members, the confirmation/welcome message isn't sent. And I can't send messages to the list either. Nothing happens. Is it a Sendmail issue? I've read and tried the steps in the troubleshooting section 3.1.4 about emails not going to the lists, but I still have the same problem. The only thing I can see is that when I grep mailmanctl, the process isn't showing up even though I've started the daemon. Another thing is that I installed Mailman as root which I know the directions said not to do. Would that be a problem? I couldn't get the permissions to work right when running configure unless I was root. Any help is very greatly appreciated. Thanks! Thanks, for the advice. But I've got one other problem. I'm not getting any confirmation emails either. I don't get one after creating a list or trying to subscribe. In logs/subscribe it says that it is pending for the emails I tried to subscribe. I'm assuming it'll be like that until they confirm, which won't happen cuz the email isn't getting sent. I can't figure out where I went wrong. Thanks! It will for Postfix and a few other MTA's that have been integrated to work with Mailman. The lists were created fine (via the web-tool), so now you just need to add the aliases manually. [Mailman-Users] ~mailman/mail/listName not getting created
Hi all, Thanks to Jon for helping me with my last problem. I think I've realized why mails aren't getting sent. The executable for my lists in ~mailman/mail/listName is not getting created. That seems to be the error I get from the failure delivery message. How and when does this get created? Any ideas why? Is it a permission problem? Check_perms didn't bring up any errors. [Mailman-Users] Can't send emails to my own domain
Hi all, I've been having a weird problem. If I try to subscribe to a mailing list on my domain, I don't get the confirmation email. Likewise, if I'm on a list and I send a mail to the list, I don't receive the message. The message gets sent fine from my domain because addresses that are not in my domain receive them. Any ideas why? I can't figure out why that would happen. Thanks in advance!! [Mailman-Users] my archives still exist but my lists are gone
Help! I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden I don't see any of my lists anymore. When I do list_lists, it shows nothing. I had about 15 lists just this morning. I was playing around with backing up the lists and I don't know if maybe I inadvertently deleted something important. What file should I look for? The archives for all of my old lists are still there. However, when I created a new list that had the name of an old list, I can't access those archives. I thought that that would work. Any ideas what went wrong and how to recover? Does my explanation make sense? I was just going to go through and recreate everything, but if there is an easier way, that would be much appreciated, as all my users are currently list-less. Thanks in advance!! [Mailman-Users] no archiving
This may be related to my other problem, but when I post to my list, it is not saving the mails to the archive. I have no idea why it is not finding them. I noticed that in my mailman/lists/ directory, there isn't a config.db file. Is that where it is supposed to be? When does that get created? Is it all related? Is there some sort of a pointer so it knows where to look for the archives? The url looks correct :domain/pipermail/listname but nothing shows up. Thanks for your help!!
