I have a long list of both regular and digest members how can I mass subscribe the digest members or even better both combined? [Mailman-Users] Spam to list owners
Folks I have an old server that is being hosted for a client. Because of Phyton version it is running mailman 2.1.5 under sendmail. For some unknown reason there seems to be a massive amount of spam going to the list owner. Is there some method in this version to stop this abuse. There are multiple web sites on this server so the list-owner is in the Virt User table for sendmail. Well I dumped the maillist-admin Gosh it is still in the aliases for 2.1.7 since I have created several list. I guess the virtuser for maillist-owner should be maillist-owner also. Made those changes see it that will clear up the little headache. Well Mark what I have currently in the Virtusertable is [EMAIL PROTECTED] maillist [EMAIL PROTECTED]maillist-admin [EMAIL PROTECTED]maillist-request [EMAIL PROTECTED] maillist-admin [EMAIL PROTECTED] maillist-bounces But I just looked at some of the sendmail returns and I believe I did fix_url wrong for the two domains where the problems lie. It appears that fix_url was done to mail.aabb.com and not aabb.com if that would cause a problem. Well I am getting errors on incoming to the bounces aliases for the two list that were upgraded. In 2.0 I had the list , the admin, request and the owner (pointing to admin) in the virtusertable. I have all 10 of the aliases for both these list in /etc/mail/aliases and newaliases of course was run. What appears to be happening is when a post is made the return from an old bad address is causing the problem, mail is going out fine. Just filling up the postmasters mail box. Folks I upgraded from 2.0.8 to 2.1.7 and now getting some sendmail returns that seem to point to the virtusertable. With the 10 aliases in 2.1.7 what exactly needs to go in the virtusertable to male sendmail happy. The FAQ wizard caries me to 2.0 releases. Well I might need to post this to the list but I am now having errors on the moved list that got it locked down can't find the config.pck.last no such file or directory. [Mailman-Users] Virtual Host problem with 2.1.7
I am moving a couple list from a server that was running version 2.0.8. I have got the list in place and the archives in place ran bin/withlist -l -r fix_url listname -u This may be where I messed up since I used the virtual hostname (should I have used the default host name?) But whatever when I attempted to start mailman I get add_vituralhost(virtual1.tld, mail.vurtual1.tld) NameError: name 'virtual1.tld' is not defined. Where did I miss the boat. Well I really don't know what happened. I think I am going to clean out the crontab entry dump the mailman directory and start from scratch. Never eveh had this sort of thing sendmail says it sending the post but they are going nowhere. It won't even notify the owner on newlist. I have six server running 2.1.5 and this one was running 2.1.6 but I need to get out all traces and go again, the box will not go into production as scheduled but such is life. [Mailman-Users] Problem with 2.1.7
I just a few minutes ago finished upgrading from 2.1.6 to 2.1.7. Everything went fine mail coming in and being posted but not being sent out. I added a new user one on my other ads an it is not sending out susbscription notifies. 2.1.6 was working fine and never had this sort of problem with mailman all the way back to the 1 versions?? What did I miss. Using sendmail configured it proper mail-gid and cgi-gid. What the deal? Point me to the faq or whatever. Just a suggestion folks. I have been using mailman since it was the new kid on the block and it is truly a fantastic package, but since series 2.1 at least once a week the VIRTUAL_HOSTS issue hits the users list. Getting ready to move a bunch of list from 2.0.8 and 2.0.13 to new servers running 2,1,15 and much to my surprise there is no documentation in the distro deal directly with this problem. Maybe it is time for someone to create a VIRTUAL_HOSTS howto , even the notes in the FAQ are a bit vague. If nothing else this may make life a bit easier for the answer guys. Well recently I installed a second version of python and got MailMan 2.1.4 up and running. I did this using a post or a FAQ entry. This was on a remote clients machine and I guess I left my notes there. Whoever made that post about installing a second version of Python please do so again or point me to it in the FAQ. [Mailman-Users] Password Reminder problem 2.0.13
I am at a bit of a lost I have about 30 list on one box, but something just happened that has me totally confused. I added another list recently and all of the sudden when the password reminders went out for this new list it included all the members from another list. Hard a heck to explain. But all the members of the devotional list got password reminders for the cnclist to which they do not belong??? Would love to solve this before months end. Well I checked the FAQ and didn't find this, recent threads were close but nothing hit it on the head. I need to move all the list from a Slackware 7.3 server running mailman 2.0.13 and sendmail 8.11.xx to a Slackware 8.1 box running sendmail 8.12.8. What issues am I about to deal with and is there a howto out there that I missed. Can someone point me to a FAQ on using a separate mail server other than box that mailman is installed on. I want to be able to use the all the filters on the mail server since the only mail on the web server is the mailman mail. Running MM 2.0.13 and Sendmail. [Mailman-Users] RPM Upgrade
Ok folks I have a box here on the network running Red Hat 7.0 it has Mailman 2.0 installed. The admininstrator is having a few problems with admin request. I have another server using 2.08 and does not have any of these little nagging problems. My question is what is necessary to upgrade via RPM, The other servers are Slackware and the upgrades have been no problem. Will the Red Hat RPM for 2.08 break to older version. Before I get hassled I figured I would ask!
