[Mailman-Users] Incoming mail No
I've been tied up with other things and not been able to work on it, but I still can't use Mailman to send out posts because inbound traffic doesn't make it back to mailman. Thus, users register but their verification doesn't get "verified", etc. When I attempt to send a post to mailman, my GroupWise (8) GWIA sends me an e-mail that completion of the e-mail has been delayed because the server (Linux) is down, which it isn't. This message repeats about every fifteen minutes or so. Since I've not worked with a Linux mail server before, what is the procedure, what software do I need, to send and receive e-mail using the Linux server as a regular user just to make sure mail is coming and going or to see where it might be hanging up? For install, will Thunderbird work, and, if so, how does it need to be configured? I realize this is very elementary, but it isn't cooperating like Novell's GroupWise or Microsoft's Exchange server. Thank you! [Mailman-Users] No incoming mail
I have a system that I just set up and mail, such as subscribe notifications and list creations are going out but mail isn't making it in. I get a "server is down" error reply. Although postfix is up, where might the "catch" be? [Mailman-Users] Error Question
Now that I have Mailman up and running and the initial site list, mailman, created, why am I getting the error below when attempting to create a new list? [Mailman-Users] John Viega?
I hate to keep bothering this list about this, but I'm determined to not only get Mailman up and running, but up and running and stable for a long time to boot. I've completely wiped out the SuSE Linux 10 box I have here and reinstalled everything from the ground up. This particular install, I went ahead and let SuSE install it's "version" of Mailman, Apache2, Python, GCC, etc. and supposedly everything was a success. When I browse to the domain name for this server, I get "It Works!", like I should. When I try to access Mailman, I get the "object not found" error. When I attempt to create a new list via "root" and a terminal window, the list is created AND I actually get an e-mail at the account I entered when creating the list. When I click on any of the links in the e-mail to access that list's "admin" page, still the "object not found" errors. When I stop and start Apache2, no problem. When I start Mailman, I get the warning that the Apache2 webinterface for Mailman has not been activated, but Mailman continues to load. However, when I was configuring SuSE to install Mailman via one of it's packages, I noticed that "John Viega " was the author. Is this in reference to authoring the program or the package for SuSE? Is there a specific order in which this package should be installed, i.e., Apache2, Mailman, Python, in that order, or does it matter? Something's getting left out and I've not been able to trace it down, but installing Mailman via a package did nothing for Apache2 which I also installed via a package and it worked. I've tried all the different TID's and FAQs for the "webinterface not activated error" without luck. Any other ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. [Mailman-Users] Where to look?
Where do I need to start looking after Mailman, Apache2, etc. has been successfully installed but none of the Mailman screens can be accessed through a browser? I've set this up on more than one type of Linux server with the same results. In addition, I had it set up and working on a SME 7.4 server, but now sending posts to the lists no longer sends them out to the subscribers. When a new subscriber registers or one unsubscribes those notices do reach the subscriber which has further muddied the waters. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, again. Re: [Mailman-Users] Linux Preferred?
Along those lines, and since SuSE was mentioned,I've just installed a SuSE Linux Server 10 and let it install Mailman among other applications. It reported that the install was a success, but unfortunately I've not found a way to get to Mailman admin or other web interfaces using the "normal" URL's or those that worked in UBuntu. Any ideas on where I should look, please? [Mailman-Users] Trouble Sending Messages
I'm having trouble getting messages out to subscribers. Approval messages, when I approve a new subscriber, are making it to their destination as are messages if a subscriber has been rejected. When I send a message to the list for an announcement, it is never received and nothing comes back. Any suggestions and/or ideas on where to look would be greatly appreciated. [Mailman-Users] Disallowing Posts
Although I could quite possibly overlooked it, is there a way to make a list to where only one person, say the moderator(s), list admin or site admin and post anything to the list? We like to set up a list for parents to sign up for to receive special notices from school but that they can not reply to OR actually send posts to themselves? [Mailman-Users] Mailman and SME
I've been attempting to install Mailman on a SME server that I created yesterday but am failing miserably. For instance, I cannot create a group AND user using "mailman" as per the documentation. I also cannot expand the mailman file. Is there any documentation on using Mailman on SME, or is a different flavor of Linux recommended? Any and all help would be appreciated.
