Or am I repeating the Wish List item I think I saw but repressed... Short answer: no Long answer: 1. Edit the source 2. Strip them in your MTA They are not going to be removed or made optional within the Mailman distribution. If people are seeing those headers directly then their MUAs are broken or misconfigured, and it is the MUAs that need fixing. It has. I'd say the 4 most frequently asked questions here are (in no particular order): - How do I get rid of the List-* headers? - How do I set up a read-only list? - How do I let users unsubscribe without a password? - Why is my list complaining about "implicit destination"? (OTOH, I couldn't find an iteration in the March or April archive to point you at. I'm sure this has come up at least once in the last month and a half, but I suppose the archive probably has a better memory than I do... I found two iterations in February starting with http://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-users/2001-February/009345.html and http://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-users/2001-February/009605.html, though. The second one, "Mail headers with Mailman", got fragmented, and also spun off a separate "Stupid Headers" thread so you'll have to go back up to the threaded archive and search for the subject lines if you want to see all of it.) Anyway, I own a private list and my provider just switched to Mailman (yay) but my users hate all those List-* headers. Is there a way to remove or suppress them? No. Well, not without changing the Mailman source, anyhow. Some people on the list (including me) are of the opinion that this is a Good Thing as the List-* headers are RFC-compliant and are there for a reason and, once all the other MLMs start including them and all mail clients start treating them properly, the world will be a better place. Other people think it is a Bad Thing because their users have MUAs which display any unrecognized headers by default, the MUAs don't recognize List-* headers, and the list admins and/or their users want everything to work the way it used to instead of upgrading to a smarter MUA or adding List-* to the existing MUA's set of ignored headers. -- That's not gibberish...
