[Mailman-Users] email list

2009-06-17 Thread Jaclyn

Hi,
I was with a small business that used mail-man to organize our email
list. We had a web guy (a friend who was paid in trade) who set this
up and was in charge of our website. He got swamped with paid work
and basically left us at the altar (stranded!) He no longer really
offered help on how to get access to our website. Thankfully we still
have access to our mail man email list. Recently this small business
has changed hands and now it's just me in charge of the email list.
We'd like to continue using mailman but I'm afraid that since we
didn't set it up and aren't on any pay schedule with the site, that it
will get taken out from under us.

The mailing list is called likewater-news mailing list, and was set up
by Bruce Weber. We are now called the Tree of Life instead of Like
Water. We'd really like to keep using it so any advice you have would
be great! Thanks a lot.

In your situation, what I would recommend is to find a reputable service
provider that specializes in Mailman and Mailman-hosted mailing lists,
and have them work with you to get your lists moved over to their
services. There are several such providers on this list, and I'm sure
that they will be more than happy to speak up here or to contact you
directly.

If you want any more specific advice, please let me know.

Hi Jaclyn:

My recommendation is to move your list to another hosting provider. You can
check us out at http://www.emwd.com/mailman.html. Also there is a list of
mailman friendly providers at
http://wiki.list.org/display/COM/Mailman+hosting+services.

We can help you migrate your list and archives to our services if you decide
to move your list to our services.

Have a great week. :^)

Regards,
Brian Carpenter

[Mailman-Users] Email list export

2003-09-02 Thread ghis.NET :: Global Hosting Internet Services
Hi,

I am interested in exporting the email addresses on a list but haven't found a
way to get them out. I can browse by first letter of the name but it only
lists a few at a time.

Thanks for your help and suggestions,

[Mailman-Users] email list into mailman list

2002-09-25 Thread Kalin Mintchev

hi all,

i had to upgrade to mailman from another list server (listar). listar uses
a text file for each list called dist that has all the email addresses
subscribed to that list to send the messages out to them. it looks like
this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
etc...
..

how can i port that list to a newly created list in mailman? i was looking
for a similar text file where mailman keeps the subscribers in the
directory of each list but there is nothing like it...
any help will be appreciated...

thanks...

How about using the Mass Subscription section under Membership
Management on the admin page? At least in 2.1b3, you can supply a file with
just addresses.

Using the web interface is only one of your options. The 2.0.x
versions (and maybe the 2.1 beta versions as well) come with a
utility called (appropriately enough) add_members. Its a
command-line interface for doing -exactly- what you wish to do.
Look in bin in your Mailman installation directory.

(And while you are there, spend some time poking around. Lots of
good stuff in there.)

Can we add email addresses to the database without having to confirm

add_members command in the bin directory

Is there a way to export the addresses?

Export? What format? For a simple plaintext dump of the membership
try using the list_members command, also in the mailman bin directory.

 ~/bin/remove_members

I think she really wants ~/bin/list_members. Export, not expunge.
