There's no web interface on domain.tld because it's the backend domain
that's hosting virtual lists.

Using one of the virtual domains, as you described, works to show the
pending sub request, but Submit action is based on mlist settings
(domain.tld) so the submit never occurs.

Perfect, thanks!

I'm going to leave them but disable (comment out) the
subscribe/join/etc ones.

Thanks for the help!

Why do you think there's no web interface. Have you tried going to
http(s)://any.of.your.domains/admindb/mailman/ ?

There are a couple of scripts at ,
namely 'erase' and 'list_requests' that can do the discard.

> Also, should the mailman/data/aliases.db even contain aliases for the
> mailman list?

The address mail...@domain.tld is exposed in both the listinfo and admin
overview pages as a place for questions. Also,
mailman-boun...@domain.tld is the envelope sender of password reminders
and some owner notices and some MTA configurations don't accept outging
mail that isn't from a deliverable address, although I think this is
mostly an Exim issue and Exim doesn't use aliases.

Also, if you don't put a MAILTO in Mailman's crontab, any errors from
Mailman's crons will be sent to mail...@domain.tld.

For all these reasons, I recommend setting up the 'mailman' list with
the Mailman site admins as owners and members and setting
generic_nonmember_action to accept.

Anyway, the short answer to "should the mailman/data/aliases.db even
contain aliases for the mailman list?" is Yes, but if it makes sense in
your installation to remove them, you can.

[Mailman-Users] pending subscription to list "mailman"

Hash: SHA512

Hello,

For some unknown reason a legitimate human sent a subscribe request to
mailman-subscr...@domain.tld and now I'm receiving pending subscriber
notifications for the "mailman" list, which isn't a list with an
available web interface. Is there a cmd line way to discard pending
subscribers?

Also, should the mailman/data/aliases.db even contain aliases for the
mailman list?

tia,

I can only think of three possibilities. Either your
Mailman/Cgi/admindb.py script is broken or the web server you wind up at
(after possible, behind the scenes redirects, proxying, whatever) is not
looking at the same Mailman installation or you are somehow looking at
an old page which is cached somewhere.

If you think it not either of the latter two, please send me off list
copies of both the lists/LISTNAME/request.pck file and the
Mailman/Cgi/admindb.py file and I will check further.

Is there anything in Mailman's error log when you go to the admindb page?

no.

[Mailman-Users] Pending subscription request weirdness

2016-05-21 Thread Sebastian Hagedorn

Hi,

I have a problem that looks like this FAQ, but I'm pretty sure it's not:

There is only one Mailman instance in play, and I can actually see the
subscription request in /var/lib/mailman/lists/LISTNAME/request.pck. I've
been getting the email notification for a few days, but in the GUI there
are "no pending requests".

dumpdb shows this:

dumpdb -p request.pck
[- start pickle file -]
<- start object 1 ->
{ 18: ( 2,
   ( 1463673214.732806,
   'redac...@ukmuenster.de',
   u'Universit\xe4tsklinikum M\xfcnster',
   'redacted',
   0,
   'de')),
   'version': (0, 1)}
[- end pickle file -]

This is Mailman 2.1.18. Any ideas?

Cheers
Sebastian

[Mailman-Users] pending subscription

2002-05-15 Thread Gregory Bouckhuyt

Hello,

I'm running mailman-2.0.8 on a woody and it seems that a user has
subscribed with a wrong email address. Mailman's logs tell me this
address subscription is pending and I can see mails going from the
list's admin address to the pending one. Is there a way to configure the
number of times mailman tries it, or can I stop it manually?

Thanks in advance,

Greg

[Mailman-Users] pending subscription problem in 2.0.9

2002-04-19 Thread Thomas Hillson

I am having a problem with 2.0.9 I have not been able to get the web
interface to work for subscriptions.

When I attempt to subscribe on the general user web page. I get an
acknowledgement of the subscription with the note that I will have to
respond to the email message to confirm my subscription. The email
message never comes. If I look in the subscription log I see the
standard entry for a pending subscription.

Apr 15 10:45:53 2002 (9697) help: pending [EMAIL PROTECTED] 129.186.254.254

However, I never get an email message to confirm the subscription.

I see no errors or abnormalities on the web server side. I am running
Apache 1.3.22 on
RedHat Linux 7.1.

This happens if I set it to confirm for the subscription
verification. If I change it to require approval, it works and I can
approve subscriptions. I do not want to get all the approve and
disapprove email on most of my lists I just want the user to
subscribe and confirm.

Any ideas on how to fix this or where to look next?
