I have seen this on occasion with other 3rd party apps (non-app store)
but never with MailMate. I never worried about it, or even gave it much
thought.

I never show the preview, so that wouldn’t work for me. They could
be up top somewhere too. Always visible and obvious is the goal.

This part confuses me a bit. You would like to have attachments
displayed (or a list of attachments) even if the message itself is not
displayed? A main window with a message list with a preview of the
attachments of the currently selected message(s). (In any case, when I
get around to refactoring how attachments are handled/displayed then
this would quite likely be possible with a custom layout.)

Sorry. I got confused there. When reading a message, I would like to be
able to see the attachments all the time, so I don’t have scroll down
to the bottom to see them, as currently (at least when they’re not
images).

I think this would only happen if MailMate had crashed between these
launches (which is kind of on purpose, but I might be changing that).
This might also explain why you don't see it every time. But let me

I don’t think it’s a crash, and I don’t see anything via Console.
It’s happened right now. “Yesterday” is collapsed. It has one
message, 0 unread.

Attachment names are usually encoded for transit. The question is
whether MM has them decoded at the point of searching. Have you tried
searching for attachment that has no spaces or any other special
characters, searching only for a word?

No, it is only applied to plain text messages (or when viewing the
plain text body part of an HTML message).

After more testing, maybe it’s just when viewing the HTML part of a
multi-part message? For example, the message you sent takes on my chosen
font (an I have other examples). I can live with that.

The biggest problem was that nothing I did would affect the font used
for plain-text mail, or the plain text part of a multi-part message. I
finally just tried deleting `MmMessagesWebView/stylesheet.css` and now
plain-text messages are using a fixed-width font again. I guess
there’s no reason for that style sheet any more.

Thanks.

I can confirm that setting the `Attachment-Name` condition didn't work
for me either (on the latest MailMate 2.0BETA - 6050).

Yes, “Attachment-Name” is actually an implementation detail which I
should probably hide.

But setting the `Filename` condition did. e.g., Filename > contains >
jpg.

Yes, this should work. I think it's available both in the 2.0 beta and
the public 1.9.4 release, but there's a caveat. Only the 2.0 beta
handles it properly for recently arrived emails due to an issue which
affects any kind of condition involving MIME sub-parts.

Let me know if it still doesn't work as expected and we'll debug the
issue.

I don't know. MailMate does not currently include a feature which allows
the user to strip attachments from a message (it's quite often
requested). In other words, MailMate certainly did not remove them.

I can take a look at the raw messages if you like. Send them via “Help
▸ Send Feedback” (drag them onto the composer in order to attach
them).

2. I don’t seem to be using the 2.0 beta. How does one get it?

It's still kind of semi-private (only announced on this list). You can
find a link on this page: https://freron.com/twopointoh

I'll probably have to make it public or maybe even release most of it as
1.9.5 since the current public 1.9.4 version does not work well on OS X
Sierra (more than 2% of my users have already upgraded to the Sierra OS
beta). Well, I have to do *something* before Sierra is officially
released :)

No, it is only applied to plain text messages (or when viewing the plain
text body part of an HTML message).

If I open a plain-text message, or one that’s converted to HTML via
Markdown, the “theme for plain text emails” takes over and I get
whatever font is defined there.

Only if the theme specifies a specific font. *Currently*, the default
theme(s) only specify `sans-serif` which I believe is sufficient to
avoid some email clients to use an ugly default font (which is the only
reason I'm specifying a font at all).

If that’s true, it seems backwards to me. I would like to choose a
font for plain text and locally rendered Markdown, and I would like
HTML messages from others to appear exactly as sent. Is that possible?

I think that's how it works now (if I haven't messed up something).
