[MlMt] Mojave and Dark Mode

2018-10-01 Thread Mark Derricutt
Benny,

Is there any way of getting Mailmate to strip any colour css elements from HTML
email at all?

Using Mojave with dark mode and I'm noticing a lot of emails rather annoyingly
have inline CSS setting font colour to black/dark greys, which really suck :)

I see there's a new dark CSS file I can override to tweak settings, but that
doesn't help with inline CSS :(

Mark

awfully large when I look at the mail I have.

Is there possibly some recoverable space in there? Is there a way to
"vacuum" free space? Or am I just a hoarder?

The Messages folder is almost exactly the total size of all of your
emails. You can select “All Messages”, enable the “Size”
column, and then click on it to sort by size. This should reveal if
you have a small set of emails taking up a lot of space. (Since “All
Messages” doesn't include “Deleted Messages” and “Junk” then
you might also want to check these mailboxes.)

Nothing huge in "All Messages". The sum of all the messages that are >1M
is barely 1G.

It is possible that Database.noindex is not shrinking when I delete
messages? My work pattern is to not delete Junk automatically, but every
three months I delete the oldest three months of Junk, then "Empty
Deleted Messages".

It might be a new bug.

I am utterly unable to change a message's read status back to unread,
for ***most*** messages, although I haven't been able to figure out
exactly what the trigger for it failing is. Upon an attempt to mark
a single read message UNread, MailMate immediately reverts it back to
read. If multiple messages are selected, this does not happen. You
can see this in action in the following video screen capture:

What are your Viewer preferences settings for “Mark messages as
read”?

I guess it could be triggered if MailMate (for whatever reason)
redisplays the message when you make it unread. (The redisplaying
would be the bug.)

I'm pretty sure this was what was happening (the redisplay), as it was
quite obvious that this was occurring. But I've already nuked from
orbit and completely configured everything from scratch, which made that
(and other issues I was having) go away.

Yes, the 2.0BETA continues to be a variant of 1.x releases which has a
few more GUI settings. It's a bit of a mess and my goal is naturally to
actually bump everything to be 2.0.

For the Mojave issues you have to use 1.x at the moment.

Multiple line breaks are not really supported in MailMate in Markdown

space+return). The Markdown converter in MailMate should detect multiple
line breaks and insert ``, but that is not currently the case.

It does work in non-Markdown text mode (since my own script makes the

up as if it was set to zero.

I’m running MailMate “Version 1.12 (5523)”.

Any fix or advice?

Try this update:
https://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/MailMate_r5530.tbz

It should fix the general issues with the mailbox list, but I haven't
actually tested the delta-preference.

I suggest using “Reset Fonts” in the General preferences pane to get
a clean start.

Note that the update includes an almost complete rewrite of the mailbox
list. This fixes some old issues and works better on Mojave (also in
dark mode), but there is a good chance that I've also introduced bugs in
the process -- or that I'm not supporting all features of the old
mailbox list.

A known issue is that currently “Mailboxes” and “Sources” cannot
be collapsed.

It's also possible it has issues on older macOS releases since I've only
tried it on 10.14 and 10.13.

Deleted Messages and Junk have a menu item to empty them (in the

risk of accidentally using it on “All Messages”):

	defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmEmptyMailboxMenuItemEnabled -bool
