I did that. Today’s emails still say “Today”. Before I migrated to Big Sur,
today’s messages showed a time in that column.

Do you mean the main menubar menu and popup menus? Those are controlled
by the OS and are not customizable (at least not by MailMate).

If you mean the listing of mailbox sources and folders in the left
column of the main window, then that can be customized. Bring up the
font selector with View->Choose Font…, then click on any item in the
list of mailboxes. The font selector will show you the current font
setting. Adjust the font to your liking, but be sure to choose a font
that has both a “Regular” and a “Bold” style.

Anyone know the name of the font used in the Mailboxes menu?

Thanks,
Dave

-=-=-=-

In the Inbox window, the column head “Date Received” shows only
dates. I know it can be set to show time for today’s received
messages, but I can’t figure out how.

Also, I can set the font used when creating a new message and
displaying a received message, but not how to set the application font
(used in the menus, and in the “To:”, “Subject:”, and
“From:” fields of a new message). Surely this can be customized?

Thanks,
Dave

Make the column wider by dragging the column sides.

Randall Meadows
is rumored to have said:

I just received a new machine; downloaded a new copy of MailMate
(5673), but copied two items:

  • ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate
  • ~/Library/Preferences/com.freron.MailMate.plist
from my old computer (running Catalina) to this new one.

I'm now getting the message:
"Software Update Disabled
MailMate is running on a read-only filesystem and can therefore not be
updated."

I don't believe this to be true (although this is my first experience
with Big Sur 😡 so who knows) since the application itself lives in
a folder in my home directory (~/Applications/, where I put *all*
non-Apple applications, and I've not experienced any issues with those
[yet]).

Any suggestions?

Fix the symlink at ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Messages to
point to either:

1. ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Messages.noindex if you have
not set a "Custom Location" for your Messages folder.

2. Wherever your Messages folder actually lives, after copying them
there from the old system.

[MlMt] Custom sort mixing Date Received and From?

2021-05-13 Thread Christian Bailey via mailmate
In the mailbox where I receive all my newsletter subscriptions and commercial
email, I want to sort in the following order:
1) Message with most recent “Date Received”
2) All other messages with the same “From” as Message 1) in order of “Date
Received”
3) Message with the second most recent “Date Received”
4) All other messages with the same “From” as Message 3)
… and so on

This would enable me to review and archive the newest messages first, but at
the same time easily archive **all** messages from a particular company or
newsletter, which is often appropriate.

In steps 2) and 4), alternatively the same “To” because some companies send
commercial email from different addresses but I use aliases so issue a custom
To address for each company.

I searched the list archives for custom sort and couldn’t find anything
relevant to this functionality. MM is so awesomely capable and customizable,
I’m hoping there is a way?

Thank you!

Best regards,
Christian
