[MlMt] Distribution list

2023-03-12 Thread Andrew Buc
For some years I’ve belonged to a movie discussion group. Every month
we’d see a movie at a theater, then discuss it at a restaurant. The
group more or less fizzled ~4 years ago with members moving away, going
into assisted living, having other commitments. I’m sure that even if
this hadn’t happened, the pandemic and the closure of theaters would
have put an end to the group. I’d set up a distribution list for the
group in Contacts.

A couple of months ago one of our members, in a nice example of lateral
thinking, suggested that we see a movie every month on Netflix and then
discuss it on Zoom. So far it’s working out well. We’ve been using
email to vote on the choice of movie each month.

Turns out that one of the members isn’t interested in taking part.
There have been a couple of times when someone’s emailed the entire
group, including her, people have responded with reply-all, and the
ex-member has gotten emails—you know how that works. She’s sent a
few testy “take me off the list already!” emails. I made a point of
removing her from the movie-group distribution list in Contacts.

A couple of times in the last couple of weeks I’ve set out to send an
email to the whole group, and “Movie group” has come up in the To
field because I’ve sent earlier emails to the group. If I select
“Movie group,” it includes the ex-member, and I have to remove her
address manually. As I said, I removed her from the distribution list.
How do I get MM to address an email only to people on the updated
distribution list. Thanks.

Re: [MlMt] Ghost messages in Drafts folder

2023-03-12 Thread John Doherty
No idea if this will help but if I use the web UI of my mail provider to
schedule a message for delivery later, then it does not appear in my
MailMate drafts folder.

I recently changed mail providers and just now noticed that the source
in MailMate has a folder named Scheduled that was not there before. Sort
of oddly, the message that I scheduled for delivery later doesn't appear
in that folder in MailMate, although it does in the provider's web UI.

So... I dunno. If your mail provider has a web UI and a "send later"
feature, maybe check there and see if you can find anything.

I don't know what's triggering the messages, but if you don't use the
"Send Later" functionality, I would disable this kind of message:

```defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmSendLaterWarningEnabled -bool
NO```
Read the "Hidden Preferences" section of MailMate Help for most
information about this feature.
Good luck!
Re: [MlMt] Ghost messages in Drafts folder [Test Build 5950]
2023-03-12 Thread Henry Seiden
Hey Karl,
You seem to be aware that 5950 is the latest build.
My MM application is likewise the same. It runs on my system MacOS
12.3.2 OS Ventura on a MacBook Pro 2021 Retina M1Pro machine. I can
confirm no messages notified as unsent when quitting.
However just as a test, I created two draft messages to try to duplicate
what you are seeing. My version and its settings do not force any kind
of message when draft messages exist when quitting.
Perhaps somebody else can point you to a hidden preference which somehow
got enabled to trigger this (also likely inaccurate) message you’re
reporting.
Just letting you know that I could not duplicate the issue and even
trying it with two draft messages (this one and a test message) in
different accounts fails and doesn’t yield a notice of any kind for
me. That stands to reason because that feature (if indeed it is a
feature) isn’t knowingly enabled here. Possibly you engaged a feature
by mistake and it has proved faulty as well? Just a theory.
I suppose that you roll back your version to the latest Beta Release
Build 5937 to see if it affect your problem, but that is your call.
Those are two thing I would try, if I had that a situation. I wish you
luck on that one, sir.
Respectfully,
Henry Seiden
