Re: [MlMt] Apple's Custom Domain Support for Vanity Emails

2021-09-23 Thread Andrew Canion
Does iCloud Custom Domain properly mask their domains in all the headers - ie,
doesn't have that "on behalf of" stuff that Gmail used to do?

Re: [MlMt] Rule to Download Attachment automatically?

2021-07-24 Thread Andrew Canion
This is something that could probably be achieved using
[Hazel}(https://www.noodlesoft.com) on a Mac, if you’re willing to use
a secondary piece of software.

Is that possible?

[MlMt] Replicating Hey.com Features with MailMate

2020-06-16 Thread Andrew Canion

Hi All,

I’ve written a post that might be of interest to the members of this
list, describing how I have replicated many of the features of the new
hey.com service in MailMate.

I hope this is considered on-topic for the list - apologies if not.

Re: [MlMt] AltaMail vs. Preside?

2020-05-10 Thread Andrew Canion

 I’d never heard of either of these apps. I’ve downloaded Preside and am using
it now to type this response. It seems great! A shame about the ugly icon,
though.

 If it supported Markdown it would almost be the perfect solution.
  Thanks,

I've never heard about these two before so thanks for bringing them to
my attention. For me personally the notification stuff isn't a problem
since I turn them off for email - I've just set it to "manually" so I
don't get disturbed by them.

If you're going to write a blog post I suggest that you look at the user
agreements also, I've been trying out various iOS clients earlier and
after a while I started to read the user agreements ... and that made be
delete the apps. In short, an email client should talk to the mail
servers I've set up ... nothing else, some iOS clients talk to a lot of
different kinds of servers and in some cases transfers emails or part of
them to other servers.

Re: [MlMt] Calendar invite notifications resending

2020-02-05 Thread Andrew Canion
I can’t help with this problem, but I appreciate the issue. I can never figure
out the rules for calendar responses. Between a mix of providers, clients, etc.
I never have any clue whether RSVPs have ever been received at the other end.

I wish there was a more reliable standard.

Has anybody had any luck using the Receipts Bundle?

When I try to use it, nothing at all seems to happen.

I’m using MailMate Version 1.13 (5667).

Re: [MlMt] sync bug

2019-11-22 Thread Andrew Canion
I can’t offer a solution; the only thing I can offer is sympathy for
the problem. I tried using MailMate with my Exchange (Office 365)
account but had to give up because of sync problems, duplicates, etc. It
all became too unreliable. It’s a shame, because the Markdown features
were really helping me.

I still use MailMate with my Fastmail account which works perfectly.

I blame Microsoft.

[MlMt] Converting Mail.app Applescript to work with MailMate?

2019-08-14 Thread Andrew Canion
I have an AppleScript that I believe originally came from
[MacSparky](https://www.macsparky.com), that is triggered by
Textexpander and works in Mail.app to read the recipient’s first name
and automatically populate this in the message body.

The script is:

```
tell application "System Events"
tell process "Mail"
tell text field "To:" of window 1
if UI element 1 exists then
set theToRecipient to (value of UI element 1)
if ((count words of theToRecipient) is greater than 0) and
(theToRecipient does not contain ",") then
return word 1 of theToRecipient
else if ((count words of theToRecipient) is greater than 0) and
(theToRecipient contains ",") then
return word 2 of theToRecipient
end if
end if
end tell
end tell
end tell
```

I’m not an AppleScript guru, so I was wondering if anybody can advise
if there is a way to adjust this script to work within MailMate? And if
so, how to go about it?

Thanks so much,
Andrew

[MlMt] Can the sidebar progress spinners be disabled or hidden?

2019-08-01 Thread Andrew Canion

I’m a new user of MailMate and am loving it.

One thing I do find distracting, though, are the sidebar spinners that
animate as IMAP folders are refreshed.

Is there a way to hide this activity indicator, short of hiding the
entire sidebar (which I don’t want to do).

Thanks in advance for any insights that be forthcoming.
