This might actually work, but note that you cannot prevent Google from saving a copy of sent messages in account B while MailMate would save them in account A (if the email address is provided for Email Address(es) of account A). You should check [this setting](https://manual.mailmate-app.com/hidden_preferences#alternative-smtp-server) although I don't think it'll do exactly what you need it to do. You'll probably have to manually switch SMTP when switching between sending from the two email addresses. My hunch is that option 1 is the way to go. I’ll add that I tried implementing option 1 several times, and MailMate crashed every time when I clicked the **Apply** button in the IMAP Account Settings dialog. Could you send me some step-by-step instructions to reproduce this (off list) and a crash report. Then I'll see if I can reproduce/fix it. Can't you just set account B's email address as an additional address on account B and choose to send from it when necessary? From: https://manual.mailmate-app.com/account_setup Email Address(es) A comma-separated list of email addresses used for the account. Note that you should only add the addresses which you often use for new messages. These addresses are shown in a popup in the composer window, but the popup also allows you to customize the address. When replying to a message, MailMate automatically tries to use the email address for which the original message was sent. This does not require the address to be explicitly declared in the settings, but it does require an “Address Pattern” as described below. If needed, an alternative name can be assigned to each address. Here is an example: “addre...@example.com, Other Name”. The first address would be paired with the full name specified for the account, but the other address would be paired with the explicitly given alternative name: “Other Name”. Add B Account's e-mail address as an alias in A account in MailMate but doing a...@gmail.com, b...@gmail.com in the Email Address(es) field for the account. [MlMt] Configuring MailMate with multiple Gmail accounts
Benny et al., I have two Gmail accounts (call them A and B). B is set to forward all mail to A. Most of the time, I reply to all incoming messages using account A. However, I occasionally want to be able to reply to a message sent to B using the B account (*from* address), so I need to have MailMate connected to B, as well as A. But I don’t want to see B messages in my MM inbox or other incoming mail folders, since doing so means that I’m seeing duplicate messages (the original copy in account B and the forwarded copy in the account A inbox). My question is, what’s the best way to achieve this? I see two options (though there may be more). 1. In MM, edit subscriptions for B to remove (uncheck) **All Mail** and **INBOX** (optionally leaving **Drafts**, **Sent Mail**, **Spam**, and **Trash** checked) 2. In MM Account Settings for B, remove the IMAP Server information/credentials and leave the SMTP Server credentials. (I haven’t tried this so am not sure it would even work.) My hunch is that option 1 is the way to go. I’ll add that I tried implementing option 1 several times, and MailMate crashed every time when I clicked the **Apply** button in the IMAP Account Settings dialog. I eventually discovered that I could unsubscribe from **INBOX** without causing a crash but not **All Mail**. I finally got it to work (I think) by opening the **Edit Subscriptions…** dialog and unchecking **All Mail**, clicking **OK**, and then taking MailMate offline (i.e., disconnecting my ethernet cable) before clicking the **Apply** button in the IMAP Account Settings dialog. I think I then quit MM before reconnecting the ethernet cable, restarting MM, and syncing my accounts. This time, MM didn’t crash, and both **INBOX** and **All Mail** are still unsubscribed.
