[MlMt] iOS

2019-09-11 Thread Alain Israel
A question not directly related to Mailmate (not on politics either) : I
would be curious to know which mail app you use (or recommand) on iphone
and ipad? Does any of them share some of the advantages of Mailmate?

If this has been discussed before, just let me know.

Alain

PS : I currently use Preside, which is so customizable that you tend to
get lost in the zillions of options available.

I used Preside for a while but then discovered AltaMail which I find to
be even more robust, frequently updated and like Preside has a gazillion
features but is IMHO more manageable.

I miss on iOS the smart subfolder by "to:email-address" for incoming emails

Re: [MlMt] iOS

2019-09-11 Thread Robert Goldman
I use Airmail as well, and am relatively happy with it. TBH, I can't
recall -- I wish I took better notes about things like this -- what it
is about Apple's own iOS Mail that I didn't like. I think it was
because "mark as spam" required too many selections and button pushes,
and I can configure Airmail to do that with one click.

A couple of misfeatures:

Airmail mooshes together the notions of "tag" and "file" in a way that's
not helpful. E.g., their "move to" menu talks about "labels."

Related to this, I don't understand what happens when I put Airmail tags
on a message, and how to make Airmail's tags visible to MailMate.
MailMate can see "star" (flag), but nothing else.

If anyone has suggestions about how to do that, I'd be grateful. I
probably just need to look at the message headers and see what's there
when Airmail tags, and try to extend MM to see that. But TBH it's
likely I won't get to that any t time soon.

This was one of the main draws to the Preside iOS App for me: the
ability to have tags interoperate between it and MailMate.

Plus it's as customizable as MM, though the preferences screens remind
me of that old text base game when it would say: "you are in a maze of
twisty little passages, all alike" :-)

Seeing as you can no longer trial AirMail, I can't say with certainty
but I suspect that they're doing something similar to Opera Mail and
implementing the labels on the client-side only. A lot to be said for
this approach, though at the expense of some interoperability.

Re: [MlMt] iOS

2019-09-12 Thread Zak McClellan
Like Richard I tried Preside for a while, but have gone back to
AltaMail. There was a rewrite of the software some time ago, as well as
a change in business model for AltaMail. Just took me a while to get
onboard. The older version just worked (for a while after the update).

ALtaMail combines tagging abilities and notifications that Mail.app
(iOS) does not offer. I find that Mail.app is still faster at the
initial review/deleting of mail. The AltaMail notifications are the
real attraction for me. I have set specific tones for individuals as
well as domains. Definitely helps to not miss specific mail messages.
AltaMail has to be running in the background. The older version did not
have this requirement, but you did redirect your mail for this
functionality.

[MlMt] iOS client that doesn't suck?

2017-10-23 Thread Jan Erik Moström

Does anyone know of an iOS email client that

+ Don't use top posting
+ Use plain text

Also, as an added bonus: can create smart mailboxes based on the IMAP
tags that MailMate creates?

I'd also love one that allows me to send mails to mail groups. We use
mail groups for our sports clubs.
