Re: [mailop] Hotmail connection errors
We saw this in small part today, starting at 10:45 am (Central), and clearing up by 6:36 pm. Our email server logged this; 399 TCP Read failed (Connection reset by peer after 32 seconds) Across several MXes. Since the issue is intermittent now so we have added the following pattern(for PowerMTA users) to skip mx and get another delivery attempt chance. It works perfectly. ... reply /554 Transaction failed/ skip-mx ... Confirmed. SendGrid saw these begin today at about 10 am Central time, with a peak around 5 pm Central. Looks like Microsoft's team resolved the problem by 7 pm Central. This is one more reason why senders can't classify all 5xx bounces as permanent. And future delivery to these recipient addresses should not be suppressed. Messy. Re: [mailop] dmarc-request
Never mind - I found it: The solution L-Soft has developed for LISTSERV does not require anyone to make compromises or lose any functionality - not even the Yahoo and AOL subscribers. "Once you install the update, everything works just like it did before the DMARC debacle; incoming Yahoo and AOL addresses are automatically rewritten to local addresses that can receive private replies and forward them to the original poster," Thomas said. http://www.lsoft.com/news/2014/listserv160-2014a-us.asp Scott Bonacker CPA - McCullough and Associates LLC - Springfield, MO -Original Message- From: Scott Bonacker [mailto:lis...@bonackers.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 06, 2016 3:32 PM To: mailop@mailop.org Subject: dmarc-request Occasionally a message will come through lsoft list management showing that the sender was something like this: "on behalf of 04d5988cbc6e-dmarc-request [at] HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM" List members can receive messages sent back to an addy like that, and when they reply outside of LSOFT things are fine. Yeah, Group's spam filtering doesn't have nearly the signals that Gmail has, so it's not as good. It also doesn't get quite as much love, though we're working on it. You can turn off spam filtering on your group and let Gmail handle it, especially if you're basically using a group as an alias for a couple accounts. I'm sure there are other caveats with using groups this way. I often think we should have kept the older system of aliases (before there was Groups for dasher). Anyways, the free tier also doesn't have access to the groups interface, which is what's prompted me pinging them to fix that several times in the past year, so hard to move to that. While we're on the subject of workarounds for too many accounts, if you have a premier account, you can also use "default routing" to handle other addresses in your domain and route them, instead of groups: https://support.google.com/a/answer/2368153 For some things, this is better, since it bypasses groups. In a perfect world, there would be an aliases interface as a simpler way to set this up. Using this maintains the sender, doesn't add list-* headers, lets DKIM still pass, etc. Brandon ___ mailop mailing list mailop@mailop.org https://chilli.nosignal.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mailop
