RE: [mapguide-users] FMTilingEngine Raster

2007-11-06 Thread Kori Maleski
Hi Brian,

Let me know if it still fails.

Can I get you to clock it as well?

I am interested in how long it runs as well as the number of tiles before it
loses connectivity.

Is the server service still active? Or do you need to restart or reboot?

Cheers,

I have a separate server that I was able to dedicate to making tiles. I
just checked the settings and it looks like on this machine I only
changed the ConnectionTimeout. I set it to 120 even though the
comments in the ini file state the max is 86400 ( 24 hours). I ran the
tiling engine for one zoom level for about 26 hours so I am not sure if
86400 is really a limit. This produced just over 145000 tiles. The
server is 3.00Ghz Pentium D with 1GB ram running windows 2003.

[mapguide-users] DWF Viewer vs. Design Review

2007-11-06 Thread Curtis Bradley
Hello mapguide users,

If I want to view maps from MGOS 1.2 using a DWF viewer in Internet
Explorer, do I need to download and install Design Review 2008 or can I
get just the active x control for IE? Anyone know if a plugin is
available for Firefox?

Thanks,

Curt Bradley

People would probably not notice until they tried to implement it, so
there has not been a large outcry. I personally have not needed to do

I am having this same problem. I have an Invoke Script that I only want
active when features on certain layers are selected. This works great
when only one layer is in the "Use only these Layers:" box, but as soon
as a second or more layers are added to the list the command doesn't
enable. This is pretty easy to reproduce just add multiple layers to

In Studio, check the "Additional Parameters" for the Invoke URL
command...it's on the same tab as where you enter your url. Do you have
both of those layers entered in the "use only these layers" field?

Re: [mapguide-users] newbie question about security

The workaround we used for this was to assign security at the map level
rather than the layer level. We created a separate map for each security
group that included only the layers appropriate to that group. We also
created one layout for each of these maps, so it was easy for the security
and login code already in place on the webserver to just load the
appropriate layout after the user was authenticated.

Since we only had four secuirty groups this was a simple solution. If the
were many different combinations of layer permissions required it would be
too cumbersome to maintain a separate map and layout for each.

I use it all the time - but I've only ever used it with 1 layer. I just
tested it with 2 layers, and I have the same problem you do. I'm using
MapGuide OS 1.02 though

RE: [mapguide-users] Open map and Zoom to data

2007-11-06 Thread Jonio, Dennis (Aviation)
After spending some hours on this forum I have begun to use this
watchForInitializationComplete() function as the starting point for most
of my applications. You will obviously have to adjust the
"parent.parent.parent" stuff as I crowd as many as four iframes inside
the TaskPane. I do NOT use php. I have settles on ajax.NET 1.0 and mgos
seems to love it. I have been able to make mgos respond as if it were a
desktop application. Please forgive all the syntax errors in
processParms() ... I am just trying to explain the concept.

To reiterate what others have shown me:

var initTimer =
setInterval(watchForInitializationComplete, 250);
function watchForInitializationComplete()
{
try {
if(parent.parent.parent.mapFrame.GetMapName)
{
//alert("within watchForInitialization
...");
var mapName =
parent.parent.parent.mapFrame.GetMapName();
if ( mapName != null) {
var mapNameControl =
document.getElementById("mapName");
mapNameControl.value = mapName;
var legend_done = false;
if (parent.parent.parent.mapFrame.GetLegendCtrl)
{
legend_done =
parent.parent.parent.mapFrame.GetLegendCtrl().InternalStateComplete();
if (legend_done == true)
{
   //clearInterval(initTimer);
   var sessionNameControl =
document.getElementById("sessionName");
   sessionName =
parent.parent.parent.mapFrame.GetSessionId();
   sessionNameControl.value =
sessionName;
   try
   {
 processParms();
clearInterval(initTimer);
   } catch(exp) { alert("...Error is
fatal: " + exp.message); }

 }
}
}
}
}
catch(Exception) { }
//catch(Exception) { alert("Waiting: Map has not finished
building. click and Retry."); }
}

   function ShowViaZoom(x, y, scale)
   {
//alert("X:" + x +" Y:" + y +" Scale:" +  scale);
parent.parent.parent.ZoomToView(x, y, scale, true);
   }

some function like this to get your parms ..

  function processParms()
  {
var parameters = location.search.substring(1).split("&");

var temp = parameters[0].split("=");
l = unescape(temp[1]);
temp = parameters[1].split("=");
p = unescape(temp[1]);
document.getElementById("X").innerHTML = l;
document.getElementById("Y").innerHTML = p;
var X = l;
var Y = p;
ShowViaZoom(x, y, scale);
  }

You could make add another "hidden" frame to your frameset. Pass the
incoming
parameters to the hidden frame and perform zoom and selection actions in
this hidden frame.

Something like:

";
}else{
echo "";
}
   ?>

You will also have to check first in the hidden page if the map is
already
initiated before selecting and zooming. There are some examples on the
forum
how to achieve this.

Re: [mapguide-users] newbie question about security

2007-11-06 Thread Kenneth, GEOGRAF A/S

It does not work quite that way.

Upon acces, the server will reuse a previously established identity, or
ask credentials for a new one.

Once an identity has been established, a session is created.
Using the session token, the user may access any resources they are
granted access to.
Trying to access a resource or operation that is not allowed gives a
security exception.

You can set permissions by right clicking an item, and selecting
properties from with MapGuide Studio.

AFAIK, there is no way to change credentials for a single layer, short
of recreating the entire session.
Basically, there is no automated way to do that. The user must have
access to it, and you should then

use a custom login script to control who turns on the layer.
You might find it usefull to add the layer to the map at runtime.

Regards, Kenneth, GEOGRAF A/S

You will have to create a copy of the WebLayout, then alter the initial
zoom in the WebLayout.
Next step is to save the WebLayout in the session repository, and point
the mapviewer to this new temporary WebLayout.

I have already written a search/zoom to application which uses this
property. It runs in the scriptFrame and is usually triggered from a
button on a page that resides in the taskPane.

My application opens with a page, which creates 2 frames (titleFrame,

The only way I can figure out how to do this, is to pass the request
string to a Session.Item. Then, I have some code in the task pane's
default page which can submit a form using javascript to the
scriptframe.

However, I was hoping to put all of this functionality into the opening
page, that way I wouldn't have to pass variables using the session item.
Which is more desirable, because if the user presses the home button in
the task area the code would execute again.

Does anyone have any ideas or experience with making the map zoom to a
feature upon being opened?  Thanks.

[mapguide-users] Tooltip/mouseover problem

2007-11-06 Thread Marius_360

We are currently creating a website on mapguide open source 1.2, with the
latest FDO King providers as we are working with oracle spatial data. The
database is Oracle XE. Now when we create a tooltip/mouseover on a layer
(all the attributes are stored within the spatial tables), it starts to
display Chinese characters and some other strange characters mixed with some
normal ones. This only happens when more than one column is used in the
mouseover.

Now what I have done in the meantime is to create a test table from a table
that gives this problem. Then I updated three columns with the same value,
something like ‘TEST’. It then displays correctly. I then updated the table
so that each column is different i.e. ‘TEST1’, ‘TEST2’, ‘TEST3’. Now it
displays the same value for all three columns in mapguide, ‘TEST3’! So that
is a whole new problem! The last thing I noticed is that when I update the
columns so that one of them contains NULL values, then the wrong characters
appear again. So ‘TEST1’, NULL, ‘TEST2’ causes the original problem.

This problem is very strange, but we are giving a presentation on Thursday,
so it will be great if the problem could be identified by then. I know it is
asking a lot, but I will provide any info you require, or any assistance
(the little I can give!) then I will gladly do so.
