Hi there folks, I've got the CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE for you all. I've created a map and I want to set the zoom tool scales like you would if you were using base layers, but we're not using base layers at all, so I'd like to do this programatically. I've recently worked out how to use anonymous javascript methods to override the functions in the ajaxviewer to pre or post fix functionality.like creating limits so that you can't zoom in too far..so I could use this, but the mouse event stuff is roasting my brain like the Christmas turkey and Brussels Sprouts are popping out of my ears. RE: [mapguide-users] another newbie question
Hi Alan, If you can give it a whirl you can try the trial version of Autodesk MapGuide Studio 2007. It will work seamlessly and better than WebStudio, but the evaluation period is only for 60 days. I agree that the details and the learning curve for MG is a little steep, and I would like that an initiative be taken to host a Tutorials section like the Samples section was hosted a little while ago. With all due respect to the writers of the Developer Guide, it still is a bit mind-boggling to newbies. uXuf Alan Flisch-2 wrote: I also tried converting it to SDF using the FDO2FDO tool and uploading that, but again nothing happened. Certainly, I'm finding that after getting the server and demo up and running, I've hit a wall. [mapguide-users] Fusion... getting started.
Hi all, I just noticed that someone uploaded some documentation on Fusion :) http://download.osgeo.org/mapguide/releases/2.0.0-beta2/doc/ These still look a bit beta (ie. incomplete), but there is some good information in there. I would suggest ignoring the Installing and Configuring doc. Start with Introduction (briefly), go on to Generic Web Mapping Application Components, then Widget Concepts, and finally Create A Basic Web Mapping Application. There is also a new template called learn in Beta2. This template not exactly basic (it looks a _lot_ like the familiar AJAX viewer) but is well commented. This appears to be featured in the Create a Basic... documentation; perhaps the link will be tighter once the documentation is complete. It is a good starting point for beginning to understand some of the more involved Jx layout capabilities, advanced widgets, etc. Here's a hint by way of Chris Claydon... If you are trying to figure out the parameters to a specific widget, they should be documented in XML files in this folder: C:\Program Files\MapGuideOpenSource2.0\WebServerExtensions\www\fusion\widgets\widge tinfo If you are starting down the path of figuring out how Fusion works, you might also find a snippet that I recently put together useful: http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/CodeSamples/Fusion/SuperSimple ( or http://tinyurl.com/26mmh8 ) Let me know if you try this out and it doesn't work :) I did just test it under Beta 2, but you know how those gremlins work... You don't need anything more complicated than a text editor for any of this. Of course... the hope is that eventually there will be tools that make this a lot easier.
