changing it to the server name or IP ie http://myserver/mapguide/..

Re: [mapguide-users] MGE/MGOS 1.2 on .NET 3.5/ASP.NET 3.5

2007-12-20 Thread Jackie Ng

I installed VWD Express 2008 on a test machine w/ MGOS 1.2.0, created a new
ASP.net web site with references to .net 3.5 libraries and MapGuide API in
the mapguide www root.

I put some code to initialize the web tier and create a session, and to load
the Sheboygan web layout.

No problems whatsoever.

RE: [mapguide-users] do i need MapGuide Studio from Autodesk

2007-12-20 Thread Mark Pendergraft
You do NOT need mapguide studio. You can use the web studio that comes
with the MapGuide open source files
http://localhost/mapguide/webstudio/index.html
But I don't think the web studio will let you create layouts yet. You
can of course create all of these via programming though.

That being said, MapGuide Studio is a very handy program, and only costs
500 dollars. You can download a free 60 day trial from Autodesk here
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=10301813

I would recommend downloading a trial and using that to get your map
started. After that, you can use the webstudio to do everything else.

No. There is a way that's easier than retheming the layer if your theming
is even slightly complex. In MapGuide Studio open the layer that has the
theming you want to preserve, use FIle > Save as XML to save the layer
definition of that layer. Do the same thing for the new layer that you
want the theming to apply to.

Open the two layer definiton XML files using your favorite plain-text
editor (or XML editor, or even a diff tool like http://winmerge.org/
) and copy the theming details from the old layer to the new one. Next,
take the modified layer definition XML file and load it on to the server
using the mapagent interface at http://YourMapGuideServer/mapguide/mapagent/ >. Use the SetResource page
to load your new XML file; the Resource ID needed for that page is one of
the items contained in the layer definition (the element).

It is not easy -- but it is definitely easier than retheming a complex
layer.

The coordinate system is different. You must set the coordinate system of the

Thanks Kori,

I tried this projection but I still get an exception error when I try
and open the map created in MG Studio. There is a coordinate system
field in the Map Editor form in MG Studio. Maybe I have to add this
projection to the list of available projections? Does anyone know how to
add projections to MG Studio?

It might still be a MapGuide problem though (I have no idea what type 8

Regardless, you may also want to submit a problem report under your

RE: [mapguide-users] Generating tiles for google maps

2007-12-20 Thread azpublic

I found out this article talking about MS virtual earth / live maps

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb259689.aspx

They show us how we can calculate the scale ...

Now my next question:

Is the scale displayed in mapguide studio calculated at the equator when in
a Mercator projection?

If yes I think we could generate the tiles pretty easily using the
FMTilingEngine and the appropriate projection

Subject: RE: [mapguide-users] Generating tiles for google maps

Thanks for your help.

I think the problem if we do it this way is that the zoom levels won't match
precisely.
Google and Microsoft use QuadTiles for their maps.
Meaning that each tile at a specific zoom level is divided in 4 tiles at the
next zoom level.

I thought that with this information we could figure out what were the
different MapGuide zoom levels to define in studio and then reuse them in
the automated tiling engine ...

For example :

If at goolge zoom level 17 the world fits perfectly in a 256 x 256 pixels
square we could calculate the corresponding mapguide scale ??? am I wrong ?

http://mt0.google.com/mt?n=404&v=w2.66&x=0&y=0&zoom=17&s=

Then do the same at zoom level 16 where the world is (2 x 256) x (2x256)
pixels and so on.

We could then use these scales in the automated Tiling Engine for a specific
Map of which the boundaries would exactly correspd to a given Google maps
tile at a higher zoom level.

What do you think ?

I was thinking you could create a layer that was your bounding box and
then add your map to a weblayout. Open the web layout in a browser and
as you zoom in to the corners of your bounding box the tiles will get
created under the TileCache directory (at least in windows). There may
be a better way to do this but that is how I have created tiles for
regions within a larger map.

Thanks for the Chris Savage link. I read it a few weeks ago but now that
I have been working on this it was helpful to re-read.

2007-12-20 Thread Brad Nesom
Michael,
It sounds very much like an issue in some past threads. I had the problem
that ArcSDE was defaulted to Unicode so all the fields in my tables were
Unicode. This only made the values in the text fields incompatible as
numbers are universal. The fdo for arcsde doesn't seem to support Unicode.
After making all my sde layers Unicode=false I am able to view text fields
(values). Noticing you have mg ent I would submit a support request to
Autodesk and ask them to research the problem. I assume you are using the
autodesk oracle provider. ? Autodesk would be the one to talk to about that.

I try to search for streets, but regardless what streetname I enter, I get
the these error messages.
I use this filter "name" LIKE '$USER_VARIABLE'. I figured out, that the
search function works fine when I use a SDF-File instead. So is the MapGuide
search function not able to work with Oracle? Any ideas what's wrong?

Thanks

Michael

RE: [mapguide-users] search error: "Identity property type notsupported yet (8)"

2007-12-20 Thread Jason Birch
Hi Michael,

When you're using MapGuide Enterprise, you're also using the proprietary
Oracle provider, so others who are not using Enterprise can't help.

Have you tried the open source SL-King Oracle provider? Lots of people
are using this sucessfully with Oracle.

http://www.sl-king.com/fdooracle/fdooracle.html

It might still be a MapGuide problem though (I have no idea what type 8
would be... what SQL type is your identity column?).

Regardless, you may also want to submit a problem report under your
Autodesk subscription.

I'm working with MapGuide Enterprise and Studio 2008 German Edition in

RE: [mapguide-users] Generating tiles for google maps

2007-12-20 Thread azpublic

Re: [mapguide-users] Generating tiles for google maps

2007-12-20 Thread George McLean
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried removing quotes and using CDATA but
have not had any success yet. I think the quotes are not problem. I
tried another projection from another map and it worked fine. The XML of
the working file is below.

PROJCS["WORLD-MERCATOR",GEOGCS["LL84",DATUM["WGS84",SPHEROID["WGS84",6378137.000,298.25722293]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0],UNIT["Degree",0.017453292519943295]],PROJECTION["Mercator_1SP"],PARAMETER["false_easting",0.000],PARAMETER["false_northing",0.000],PARAMETER["central_meridian",0.00],PARAMETER["standard_parallel_1",0.00],PARAMETER["latitude_of_origin",0.00],UNIT["Meter",1.00]]

I think there must be something in the coordinate definition that does
not work.

PROJCS["unnamed",GEOGCS["unnamed
ellipse",DATUM["unknown",SPHEROID["unnamed",6378137,0]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0],UNIT["degree",0.0174532925199433]],PROJECTION["Mercator_2SP"],PARAMETER["standard_parallel_1",0],PARAMETER["central_meridian",0],PARAMETER["false_easting",0],PARAMETER["false_northing",0],UNIT["Meter",1],EXTENSION["PROJ4","+proj=merc

+units=m [EMAIL PROTECTED] +wktext +no_defs"]]

I need to educate myself on the parameters in these WKT coordinate
definitions.

Thanks again for the help,

George

MapGuide Enterprise is not officially supported on Vista. I know that the
installer does not support Vista's IIS and so the install will fail.
Did you try installing on Vista as Apache as that should have worked?
For MapGuide Open Source Beta 2 I installed it manually for Apache as I was
already building the source on my machine.

Hi Tom, I have been trying to access this wms source for about a year now.

working? We tried installing the new beta 2.0 side by side with MGE 2008 but
we had problems and had to abort.

Hi Chris,

I've made yesterday exactly the same experience like you but didn't
realise that the tooltip shows up when moving the mouse cursor north of
the object.
I thought I've done something wrong but now think it's a bug in AJAX
Viewer.

When you have a colored background (I mean for eyample a polygon layer
behind your symbol layer) you can see that there is a gap between the
toolbar and the map. If you resize your window the map gets refreshed
and that gap will disappear and the tooltip shows correct.

http://www.nabble.com/file/p14432821/Clipboard.jpg

So it has to be a JavaScript problem in the AJAX viewer when the viewer
is initialised I suppose.

Problem is

i think that this is very expected tips for any web based gis aplication.

it is posible in new MG 2.0 , are there any function for that
(documentation).

installed virtual pc and config xp on it.

I have been using the upcoming 2.0 beta on Vista without any issues using
Apache. I have not tried IIS yet.

Is mapguide compatible with vista / IIS7.

Keep getting errors when trying to view the login.php page...

Wondering if this is a known issue before I start investigating the
errors.

Thanks,

[mapguide-users] search error: "Identity property type not supported yet (8)"

2007-12-20 Thread Michael L.

Hi,
I'm working with MapGuide Enterprise and Studio 2008 German Edition in
combination with Oracle 10g. Everytime I try to use the MapGuide internal
search function I get this Error: "Identity property type not supported yet
(8)" or "No Matches".

Thanks

Michael

RE: [mapguide-users] Trusted Sites

2007-12-20 Thread Chris Tallman
Looks like we were chasing the same thing that has been an issue for awhile
now. I found posts talking about the gap when measuring, digitizing, and the
selection tool, selecting the wrong location. So I'm not sure what happens
when IE asks to enable the MSXML 5.0 add-on but the gap doesn't appear when
that pop-up bar comes up, whether the properties pane in on or off.

I tried the fix proposed by Maciej Skórczewski it didn't seem to have any
affect. So far the only thing I found that fixes it correctly on the initial
load is having the properties pane on.

Here is a link to Maciej Skórczewski post:
http://www.nabble.com/Re%3A-Map-Viewer-Gap-p10052754s16610.html

The second change is the one I tried and it didn't change the gap.

Chris

I see the same gap at the top of the map. The gap is there when the properties
pane is turned off, and there is no gap when the properties pane is on. I also
see if you resize the map the gap goes away and everything is fine.

So its got to be a bug some place in the AJAX Viewer. I think I remember some
posts about this gap a week ago or more. Have to search the old posts.

Hi Chris,

I've made yesterday exactly the same experience like you but didn't realise
that the tooltip shows up when moving the mouse cursor north of the object.
I thought I've done something wrong but now think it's a bug in AJAX Viewer.

When you have a colored background (I mean for eyample a polygon layer behind
your symbol layer) you can see that there is a gap between the toolbar and the
map. If you resize your window the map gets refreshed and that gap will
disappear and the tooltip shows correct.

So it has to be a JavaScript problem in the AJAX viewer when the viewer is
initialised I suppose.

2007-12-20 Thread Maciej Skorczewski

Hi all!

My question is: it is posible in new MG 2.0 make Redlining?

Problem is

1. i whant to draw a line/polygon etc..
2. then i what to edit what i draw...(like in google maps)- so i can get
any point of line and change coords...then save it...

i think that this is very expected tips for any web based gis aplication.

(documentation).

Maciej Skórczewski
