I have upgraded to 2.02 and now I can see the tiff in my map. however,
I can only see the tiff in my map when the coordinate system is the same
as the coordinate system in the tiff (regardless of overrides). Any
ideas?

I did have a coordinate system override specified at first. It was the
same coordinate system as my map (WAHP-NF), but when I looked at it in
the layer preview, the scale was 1:4.65. Seeing as the TIFF covers the
entire Puget Sound in Washington State, I knew something was up. So I
didn't specify an override, and I create a new map with the same
coordinate system as the tiff. When I look at the tiff in the layer
preview sans override, the scale is 1:1698729.00 (which is more like
it).

However in my map with the same coordinate system, I see nothing.

Yes, you could serve different pages with Apache and IIS from the same machine.

Currently there is no integration between MapGuide and AD/LDAP, so you must
create users manually in MapGuide.
I will warn you that the MapGuide security model is bad, if not broken (My
personal opinion).

There are a number of ways to log on for users, so they are not prompted.
You should be able to find a few threads on the subject on nabble.

I run Apache and IIS side-by-side on my development Windows machines.  IIS is
by default bound to port 80 and Apache to port 8008.  If you want to change
Apache so that is bound to port 80 instead,  you can edit Apache’s httpd.conf
configuration file and change the Listen directive.  If you do this, you can
use http://localhost and not have to specify http://localhost:80

Thanks Kenneth,
I didn't realise you could install Apache and IIS. What would be the reason for
doing so? I guess, then, that when the install guide was written, it was with
Apache in mind (i.e. specifying 8008)? I found other discrepancies and things
that need updating in the install guide. I was thinking of making some

If you install Apache, it will use port 8008, because you may have other stuff
(IIS?) using port 80.

Whenever you do something with the Site Admin, it communicates with the
MapGuide service over a port on the loopback interface.
This port is NOT 8008, and should not be either.

Whenever your application communicates with the MapGuide service, it uses
another port on the loopback interface.
This port is NOT 8008, and should not be either.

(It may redirect to another machine, but usually it is the same machine, and
thus a loopback).

Yes, there are 3 ports config'd and they were the same in both files. They
weren't 8008 though. I didn't get prompted to specify them during install like
I did with 2.0.1.

Speaking of ports, the doc's mention localhost:8008. If I use that, it can't

If you're using the Sheboygan sample application, the username and password
(Anonymous in this case) are hard-coded and used to establish the session

Its getting a little clearer. e.g. you could have one folder on the hd
managed by IIS and another folder managed by Apache, correct?

Now that you mentioned authentication, I plan to do that, but can't find any
documentation on mg's groups and users. I read some blurb somewhere that
everyone is requred to log in but I haven't experienced that requirement
using Sheboygan. I should start another thread on that when I get to that
point.

I'll definitely try to post my finding on trac, if I can stay on track. ;-)

Apache has its own strengths, and if you are not using IIS features
(integrated authentication, .Net, etc) in MapGuide,
I can see why you would want to use Apache.
If you have a .Net application on the same server, you may want IIS too.

The install documents assume that you choose Apache and PHP.
Anythin else means you're on your own.

If you get a list of changes, please do post them as a ticket in Trac.

If you install Apache, it will use port 8008, because you may have other
stuff (IIS?) using port 80.

They

Speaking of ports, the doc's mention localhost:8008. If I use that, it can't

Yes, you could serve different pages with Apache and IIS from the same
machine.

Currently there is no integration between MapGuide and AD/LDAP, so you
must create users manually in MapGuide.
I will warn you that the MapGuide security model is bad, if not broken
(My personal opinion).

There are a number of ways to log on for users, so they are not prompted.
You should be able to find a few threads on the subject on nabble.

Not quite.

The Ip adresses you were changing were not for the webserver, they
were for some internal communication in MapGuide, and that should not be
exposed.

There are no problems with communicating with the MapGuide Site Admin
through the DNS name (option 3).
At least not the security problems I was refering to (but the password
is sent unencrypted!).

If both the webserver and MapGuide is running on the same machine, you
should not have to change any settings.

You should not follow those directions, unless you are trying to achieve

As for the WAN, you just need to have your router (or ISP) redirect
request for port 80 (or 8008) to your machine.
On most routers, it is called NAT (network address translation), but
some call it "Virtual Servers".

Once done, your webserver should be visible from the WAN as well, and
thus MapGuide is visible too.

is by default bound to port 80 and Apache to port 8008. If you want to

You should not follow those directions, unless you are trying to achieve
that.

2008-10-01 Thread Kenneth Skovhede, GEOGRAF A/S

Ok, I'm pretty sure you don't want to change the IP address.
You should never expose the MapGuide service directly to the internet,
because that has severe security implications.

You should only expose the WebServer to the internet, because it is
built to resist attacks.

So, first step is to change all those back to their defaults, and
everything should work just fine.

Thanks Kenneth,
I didn't realise you could install Apache and IIS. What would be the reason for
doing so? I guess, then, that when the install guide was written, it was with
Apache in mind (i.e. specifying 8008)? I found other discrepancies and things
that need updating in the install guide. I was thinking of making some
corrections and submitting it.

If I use that, it can't
find login.php. If I just use localhost, it can. Could someone explain why?___

[mapguide-users] filter for features

2008-10-01 Thread EvaD

Hi,
I am having problem with filter for features.
The code is working when I filter by “PROPADR” for the parcels layer, but
when I use the filter with the property “FeatId”, the result is empty.
Here is the syntax I used for both cases:

MgFeatureQueryOptions queryOptions = new MgFeatureQueryOptions();
queryOptions.SetFilter("FeatId = 112");

or

MgFeatureQueryOptions queryOptions = new MgFeatureQueryOptions();
queryOptions.SetFilter("PROPADR  LIKE 'DEININGER RD'");

I try to verify the Xml schema of the layer, but it seem that the “FeatId”
is Int32 , and “PROPADR” is a string.
Is there some syntax problem in my code, or why the filter is not working in
case “FeatId” ?

I need to have unique identifier for the parcels, and it seems from the
schema that “FeatId” is the key.
Here is the part of Xml schema for the layer:

The ticket #659 relates to people trying to write an application on one
machine that communicates with MapGuide on another machine (on a LAN).
You should not follow those directions, unless you are trying to achieve

As for the WAN, you just need to have your router (or ISP) redirect

and thus a loopback).

Are the port numbers the same in the web config file and the server
config file?

Yes, there are 3 ports config'd and they were the same in both files.
They weren't 8008 though. I didn't get prompted to specify them during
install like I did with 2.0.1.

Speaking of ports, the doc's mention localhost:8008. If I use that, it
can't find login.php. If I just use localhost, it can. Could someone
explain why?
