Hi all,

I found document about configuration of wms feature sources.

http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoWmsNotes

and, I got to add transparent WMS layers to my map.

I'm sorry for all the fuss.

That looks just fine..
I have service pack installed. I also tried from another machine with
studio, it did not work there either. May be its something with the
Enterprise version assuming you are using Open Source...atleast I know its
not the data. Thanks.

Please no :)

If you're using Nabble, you can "attach" a file to a message and mailing
list users will get a URL to click on, but otherwise please put file
attachments somewhere web-accessible and send a pointer to the list.
Sending files to the mailing list has unfortunate bandwidth and server
load implications.

2009-02-05 Thread Mark Pendergraft
Okay, the Facility.sdf shows up in Civil 3d and in MapGuide Studio. I
can select features and I can zoom in as well.
I've had trouble exporting features using Civil 3D in the past, it's
tricker than it looks.
What is distorted about the feature in MapGuide Studio? What version of
MapGuide Studio do you have?

I see the feature when I export it to shp and open it in arcmap.
attached in another layer from the DWG which shows up in Civil 3D but is
distorted in Mapguide studio. It also does not let me select features or
zoom properly.

RE: [mapguide-users] Working with state plane data in Mapguide studio

2009-02-05 Thread clarkie342

I see the feature when I export it to shp and open it in arcmap.
attached in another layer from the DWG which shows up in Civil 3D but is
distorted in Mapguide studio. It also does not let me select features or
zoom properly.

Odd, that file shows no features in Civil 3D or in MapGuide Studio 2009.
What do you see when you open it in ArcMap?

It's probably a coordinate system issue. Have you assigned the proper
coordinate system to the DWG project itself as well as specify it when you
export? Which version of Autodesk Map are you using? Are you using the
Map->Tools->Export to Autodesk MapGuide option or are you using the Publish
to MapGuide option?

Re: [mapguide-users] Repository or server error

2009-02-05 Thread Rodolfo Moreno

Thanks Kenneth, I was a silly I forgot to review the log file.
this is the error in the log file.
Error: An exception occurred in FDO component.
RDBMS: No current open database.

The error is being raised by feature sources with feature joins to SQL 2008
(my trial version has expired).
Describing the problem:
- Municipalities.FeatureSource has 2 featsources:
- Municipalities and MunicipalitiesExtension (It has featurejoins).
- Layer1 uses Municipalities (not MunicipalitiesExtension)
- Layer1 is used in Map1, then Map1 raise the RDBMS error.

I thought that only in the case that MunicipalitiesExtension is used the
error would be raised (although I guess that it should be like I was
thought)

I guess that it solved my problem, However I don't how why some of my maps
don't work well, even if these are not using layers with feature joins. For
example before that the expiration date of my SQL, these maps worked good in
both IE7 and FF2, and now these maps only are work good in FF2 and not in
IE7.
It's happennig with Fusion 1.0.6 (raise AJAX ERROR) and in the mapguide log
any error is registered. the ajax viewer is working good in both browsers.

I am really confused, could the SQL expiration has generated the FUSION
error?

Regards,

RE: [mapguide-users] Regarding Flexible Layout

2009-02-05 Thread Mark Pendergraft
Yes, but as long as the user has PHP installed (a must for MGOS in
general) they shouldn't have any issues at all. I'm programming in
VS2008, and can include ASPX pages in my Fusion App, interact with VB
.NET server side code, and can even get the same code in the index.html
page to run inside of a index.aspx page with no errors. The Fusion code
is all in javascript, and there is no reason why an application can't
use both PHP and ASP.
I'm guessing that their application is breaking due to a lack of
reference to the fusion.js library or maybe a div not being in the page
with the same name as the jx component that is being created, or a bad
applicationdefintion.xml file.

Perhaps that isn't worded correctly but the server-side component of
Fusion is in PHP only at the moment.

Perhaps that isn't worded correctly but the server-side component of
Fusion is in PHP only at the moment.

Developing a GIS application in asp.net. When I tried to run the

flexible layouts are not running. I have tried to run it from the

debug it takes me to

Re: [mapguide-users] How to create Layer and Datasource and link it to SQL 2008 Datasource in code

2009-02-05 Thread Kenneth Skovhede, GEOGRAF A/S

I assume that you are aware of the FDO toolbox:
http://code.google.com/p/fdotoolbox/

It can convert the SHP data to MSSQL quite easily.

You can think of the runtime map as a binary version of the
MapDefinition xml.
An instance of a runtime map is created for each session, and data from
the MapDefinition, LayerDefinition(s) and FeatureSource(s),
are replicated into a binary representation. The replication allows for
speedups, and also for toggling layer visibilty without modifying the

MapDefinition.

The developers guide is more aimed at using MapGuide features. What you
are trying to do

is more like authoring a map.

I think the following steps are required

1. Check if datasource exist.
1.1. If not - create it
1.1.1. Create XML and store it
2. Check if layer exist.
2.1. If not - create it.
2.1.1. Create Layer Definition XML and store it
2.1.2. Update either runtime map or MapDefinition XML

You can usually decide if you want to update the runtime map or the
MapDefinition
by asking yourself: Are the changes meant for only the current user?
Yes, means runtime map, no means MapDefinition.

MapDefinition is just plain xml, and you can add the layer to
groups by using xml tags.

Runtime layers can be created using the MgLayer constructor,
with the LayerDefinition as a parameter.
Then call map.Layers.Add(mglayer instance), and save the map.

thing which is unclear for me just yet is "runtime map". As far as I
understand you not only have to generate XML and store it, but you also have
to update "runtime map", so your changes will be populated on the map
immediately.

What is the sequence of following steps? What you suppose to do in every
step (update xml, work with MGOS API)?
- Add Layer Definition to the Map
- Add Layer Resource t the Map

Can you please clarify for me sequence of procedures for the case when I
need to add layer from SQL 2008 View to the map.

1. Check if datasource exist.

2.1.2. Add Layer Resource?
2.1.3. Add Layer to the Group
2.1.4. Update runtime map?

Did I miss it in MGOS Developer's Guide?

Looks like I understand some bits and pieces here and there and all I need
to know is sequence of events for adding Datasource and layer from SQL 2008
to map.

Thank you for the links!

Kenneth Skovhede, GEOGRAF A/S wrote:

It's a bit unclear to me what you are asking for.

Do you want to create a FeatureSource by code, a LayerDefiniton, or both?

Both are constructed from xml files, and the xml file definitions can be
found in the "schemas" subfolder of your MapGuide installation.

The easy way to do this is usually to setup the
FeatureSource/LayerDefinition in Studio/Maestro

Then save the Xml, and use that as a template for creating new items.
Eg, in the LayerDefinition, change the color, or FeatureSource/Table.

You create a new item by calling the SetResource method on an
MgResourceService object.

For sample code, feel free to browse the Maestro repository (in C#):
http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/maestro/Sourcecode

For instance, the MSSQL provider editor is here:
http://svn.osgeo.org/mapguide/trunk/Tools/Maestro/Maestro/ResourceEditors/FeatureSourceEditors/MSQLSpatial/FeatureSourceEditorMSSQLSpatial.cs

Re: [mapguide-users] Connecting to WMS

2009-02-05 Thread Kenneth Skovhede, GEOGRAF A/S
If the problem is as Tom describes, it is likely because Studio uses the
CSMap coordinate system,

and MGOS uses Proj.4.

If you setup an override using Studio, it is invalid for some coordinate
systems, because they are named

slightly different in Proj.4.

Try using Maestro to setup the override, as it uses the server
coordinate system, regardless of brand what it is.

So, I want the map and WMS layer to be in coordinate system *32632*, the
Feature source is configured to use this coordinate system, the service
supports it, but still the server sends the output in *32633.*

Can you spot my mistake ?

This means that the Coordinate System Override on the layer must match

To see if there are any errors reported, look in the error log:

Hi all,
I am trying to add a WMS layer to my map.
I followed the procedure described here :
https://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoWmsNotes

to create a feature source.
When I open the feature source in Studio the connection tests OK.
Clicking the *Refresh* button generates an error originating from
displayschema.php at line :
/document.getElementById("Geom_"+"RissaWMS").previousSibling.firstChild.src
= "./images/collapse_pane.png";
/for each layer in the WMS feature source which is not critical
(critical for Studio)
*View Data *link then reports BBOX parameter missing, which I assume
is normal

I create a Layer afterwards, based on this Feature Source. The layer
seems ok - refreshes OK, nothing on screen . This I also assume
normal as the layers (as described in the GetCapabilities
document) are limited to scale ranges up to 1:5000.

I add this layer to an existing map, with matching coordinate system
(EPSG:32632 of the WMS Feature Source and UTM-WGS84 / Zone 32 North
of the map).
The WMS layer is not shown on the preview in Studio - perhaps this is
also normal - my other raster layers are not previewed either.

But when I don't see the layer data in browser I am really stressed.

And my biggest stress is based on the fact that I do not know how to
debug this situation

Any help will be highly appreciated

After creating the SDF FeatureSource, you can use MapGuide to query it:

ture_service_7ca27aeb7ab769babccefd67d1335c34.html#7ca27aeb7ab769babccef

The results of DescribeSchema() gives you all the schemas/classes
supported by the SDF (yes, it may have many tables).

The MgClass item has a method called GetProperties() which will return
all the avalible columns

in the SDF file, including their type.

Re: [mapguide-users] Connect to PostgreSQL database via DNS (Mapguide Studio 2009)

2009-02-05 Thread Kenneth Skovhede, GEOGRAF A/S

They should work right away.

Do you get any errors in the log files?

The preview feature does not always work, because the data extent is
sometimes reported incorrectly.
Try to create a map, and set the coordinate systems and extent to fit
the layer, then add the layer.

You should now be able to preview the map.
To be certain, try adding a layer with data in the same region that you
know works.

[mapguide-users] Google Earth interactivity with Mapguide

2009-02-05 Thread Jose Cerrejon

I have an object G Earth embeded in a html page. I want to call an event when
a user click on a kml loaded in the globe (mapguide wms layer). My idea is
to take some variables and show datas from that point calling to the next
url (example):

http://localhost/mapguide/mapagent/mapagent.fcgi?REQUEST=GETFEATUREINFO&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.1.1&FORMAT=image%2Fpng&INFO_FORMAT=text%2Fxml&LAYERS=Samples%2FSheboygan%2FLayers%2FParcels&QUERY_LAYERS=Samples%2FSheboygan%2FLayers%2FParcels&X=400&Y=50&BBOX=-87.73%2C43.73%2C-87.72%2C43.75&SRS=EPSG%3A4326&WIDTH=800&HEIGHT=600

So I have all variables that I need, escept BBOX. I don't know how to get
BBOX from Google Earth.

I see this page if it is usefull:

http://code.google.com/intl/es-ES/apis/earth/documentation/reference/interface_kml_lat_lon_box.html

Any idea or snip code?

you can do this using mapguide, but for the editing and stuff, check out
openlayers. It can do vector layers for the web in a browser with editing
capabilites, the next release of mapguide includes the next version of
fusion which incorporates openlayers.

it will involve some javascript and time in firebug :)

[mapguide-users] Can this be done with MGOS?

2009-02-05 Thread Franco Caloni
Hi all, this is my first post :)
I need to do some general questions about MGOS, to see if it fit my needs
before start using it.
I have a win32 application which i want to rewrite for the web. This
application manage traffic signs.
Here: http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/1167/immaginejs2.jpg

you can see what I need to "replicate" with MGOS.
Basically, I display a dwg file as background draw, then the end user,
through the buttons on the left of the form can create, move, rotate, delete
every single sign as needed.
As you can see signs are displayed as "horizontal section" of the sign
itself; behind the scene I store in a database the X,Y coord of the point,
the rotation, ecc., then the application display the proper "autocad like"
block. I have 4-5 blocks: 1 with a circle and a line, 1 with 1 circle and 2
lines, one with 3 lines, and one with 4 lines depending on how many sings
are there on the support and on which side they are.
(referring to the image you can see difference of signs #5129, #5125 and
#5132)

I have already downloaded and installed MGOS, and I got my first dwg
displayed, in the next days i'll try add the "create new sign"
functionality, but the questions are:

-I didn't see any example or docs about rotating and moving features or
symbols: it is possible to give to the end user the possibility to
rotate&move a feature directly on the map? I mean: the user select a
feature, then click on the proper button "move" or "rotate", then click
again on the map for the new position or move the mouse to give right
rotation to the object.
If yes can someone tell me how? (which functons, api, code samples, every
suggestion is wellcome)

- giving that the answer to question 1 is yes :), for my needed, it's better
that signs will be symbols or feature with a geometry?

Thanks

Franco

RE: [mapguide-users] Connect to PostgreSQL database via DNS (Mapguide Studio 2009)

2009-02-05 Thread Rui Daniro

Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for help, but I believe that is not my problem. As I can see Paulo
problems is to connect to the database, but not my case, I am able to
connect and see the tabular data, the only thing I am not able to do is plot
my geometric data.

Anyway, I did a search on my systems and I could not found those dll's so I
decided copy and past them on the following folder
\MapGuideOpenSource2.0\Server\Bin\FDO . Do they need any customisation?

Thanks again for you time.

Rui

[mapguide-users] Programmatically add a layer from SDF

2009-02-05 Thread sekko970

I need to add a new layer to my map with an SDF resource and using an XML
template layer definition, but I don't know how to extract the name of
Feature Class and Geometry.

I'm using .NET WebAPI.
Could you help me?

Thanks in advance,

I did try a lot of different layers, and I think I did try layers with no
space in their names. But I will go back and try again.

Arh yes, I should have read the entire mail :).

I'm guessing that the name is a bit tricky because it contains spaces.
MapGuide/FDO has some internal encoding/decoding of non-alphanumeric
charaters.

If you control the service, can you try to rename the table?
Otherwise, I see two options:
1) File a bug report, and wait for it to be fixed (or fix it yourself).
2) Write a small WFS wrapper that translates the names.

A problem that I see a lot, is that the WFS provider/server does not
correctly read the extent of the data.
This means that the preview shows a map somewhere else, and so, no data is
displayed.

The cure is to set up a map with the correct extents, and then add the
layer here, and then preview the map.

Also, what are the contents of the error log, when no features are
displayed:
C:\Program Files\MapGuideOpenSource2.0\Server\Logs\Error.log
or
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MapGuideEnterprise2009\Server\Logs\Error.log

I have no idea how you can fix that.

If I had the problem, I would use EPSG:32633 on the map.

RE: [mapguide-users] Consuming WFS, error in MGE2009

2009-02-05 Thread Gary Morin
Hi Brian

I tried a lot :), I'm pretty sure I did use coordinate system
over-ride. My guess is the error message is quite generic and is not
reporting the real problem.

I have, for now, parked the idea of using WFS, but after using it in Map
2009 it does seem to have good potential.

Thanks

Gary

Did you try setting the coordinate system in the coordinate system
over-ride?
Not sure if this will work for you...as I have not loaded any WFS and I
am using open source, but when connecting a SQL Spatial Data Source, I
got a similar error and it was resolved after I set the coordinate
system in the coordinate system over-ride of the data source. Might be
worth a try...

Unfortunately I never found a solution to this problem. I did succeed to
consume WFS with served by some other servers but in that case some
other
problems were occurring (not possible to select features, unstable,
...).

RE: [mapguide-users] Consuming WFS, error in MGE2009

2009-02-05 Thread Gary Morin
The map did have the correct coodinates so I don't think it was preview
problem, we were getting the error mentioned at the botton of the the
post.

Error: Failed to stylize layer: tiger landmarks

An exception occurred in FDO component.

Schema can not be found in the collection.

 StackTrace:

  - MgMappingUtil.StylizeLayers line 786 file

The interesting thing the same WFS worked fine in Map 2009

Thanks for you replies

Gary

A problem that I see a lot, is that the WFS provider/server does not
correctly read the extent of the data.
This means that the preview shows a map somewhere else, and so, no data is
displayed.

The cure is to set up a map with the correct extents, and then add the
layer here, and then preview the map.

Also, what are the contents of the error log, when no features are
displayed:
C:\Program Files\MapGuideOpenSource2.0\Server\Logs\Error.log
or
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MapGuideEnterprise2009\Server\Logs\Error.log
