Re: [mapguide-users] Help needed on transfering files from ArcGIS to Mapguide

2007-11-04 Thread Mansoureh Sadrykia
Hi!

The load procedure is available in mapguide studio, I'm not sure about the
web studio! Even if you have mapguide studio trial version, you can load your
shp file to mapguide os.
About the fdo provider for shp, I had the same problem; I never could find
FDO provider for shp in mapguide studio!!!

  Hope it helps,
  Regards

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion but i couldnt find any "load procedures" anywhere
in the webstudio. If you meant the uploading feature, i tried that out too
but didnt work! I tried downloading FDO2FDO and tried to create a SDF file
from the available shape files and then uploading it to a feature source but
then that didnt work out too.. I really dont know what to do.

HELP!

If anyone would want to try out, i've attached the shape file + the database
files along with this post. If you DO manage to create layers successfully,
please do write me back.

Re: [mapguide-users] Data Load and Connect Session in FAQ

2007-09-19 Thread Mansoureh Sadrykia
For loading data, you can simply run the 'load procedure' in mg studio. For
more information you can read the pdf file "getting started guide" which is
installed while you install Autodesk Mapguide Studio.

  Hope it helps,

Hi List!

I'm trying to load shp files located in LAN. In mg studio 2007, I run the
'new load procedure' and add the file. The address of the file is something
like \\M\folder1\lakes.shp where M is the name of the computer which has the
data. But when I click the load resources button, a pop up menu appears saying
"operation is not valid due to the current state of the object". Please help me
to find out the solution.

We typically don't use the "%MG_DATA_PATH_ALIAS[san-diego]%" syntax when
running unmanaged FeatureSources on our MGOS servers; we just put in the
UNC path "\\192.168.0.51\San Diego" (by the way, I'd avoid paths
containing SPACE characters -- still bad juju for Windows machines).

Hi List!

I try to access to a folder of shp files in a LAN. I defined the directory of
my SHPs - which are shared in the network- in my xml content as
%MG_DATA_PATH_ALIAS[san-diego]%, in which san-diego is alias and the path is
\\192.168.0.51\San Diego. (192.168.0.51 is IP address of my computer).
When I try to access this feature source an error occures which says " the
feature source is invalid, an exception occured in FDO component. the directory
does not exist". I don't know how I should get permissions to read the remote
data stores.
Please help me to find a way to access shp files in LAN.

[mapguide-users] map admin, add server?

Hi List!

I try to add a server in mapguide administrator site, I go to 'manage
servers' and then choose 'add server' ,I define an IP address of one of the
computers in LAN. But when I go to 'configure server', all the check boxes,...
are inactive; and on top of the page it's said: The server is down. Please help
me, I guess I don't understand the servers and how I should manage them.
If there is a document about mapguide site administrator, other than its help

Thank you very much Kenneth, GEOGRAF A/S for patiently answering my question,

I tried what you said. The providers.xml could not be displayed using IE! the
error was this: "Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet." My fdo.dll
version is 3.2.0 and although the providers.xml include the lines for 'fdo
provider for shp' and 'fdo provider for sdf' these two are not shown in 'data
connection' window in mg studio! Do I have to download any extra dll's in order
to be able to connect to shp files? or not.

  2) Please explain me more about getting access to files from a network share,
I really need to get access to shp files from different IP addresses and then
bring them to studio in order to make web layouts.

Lots of Thanks for your help,

"Kenneth, GEOGRAF A/S" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
  1) Yes, it should be there. Try opening the "providers.xml" with Internet
Explorer to ensure that it is valid. The server must be restarted for any
changes to take effect.
2) It is supposed to work that way.
3) The provider will have access to any and all files that the MapGuide Server
service process has access to. This is usually the local system account. It
will not have access to any network drives you have set up, and will use the
local account for remote authentication. In other words, unless the files are
in a share with anonymous access, it will probably not get access. Perfomance
wise, I would also recomend against using files from a network share.

Thank you for your reply Rich,

I have used the method you told before and it worked; but the problem is
that: now I want to connect to a repository of shp files in a remote computer
using studio, can I use load procedure for this purpose? I assumed that I shall
somehow use fdo provider to connect to a set of shp files in a remote
database(different IP address). Please help me find the answer.

  Thanks in advance,

Rich Bauer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
  Hi,

The place to use SHP data is in the "Load Procedure" or the "Load file-based
data" on the getting started page in Studio. (I am assuming you are using
Studio from what you are saying) Just click that and browse for your file
wherever it might be just like any other program. Set the settings you want
and hit "Load Resources." Hope that helps.

Maybe if you could tell us what you need to test, we could tell you what page
to use, and how to use it.

I actually would like to see if I can make a weblayout from shape files and
display it in http://localhost:8008/mapguide/... by writing PHP code and
without using mapguide studio.
  Is that possible?

I'm not sure what you want to do. There is no studio involved in displaying a
map.
You can just browse to a layout (mine is called Layout1, and is in the root
folder in studio):
http://localhost:8008/mapguide/mapviewerajax/?WEBLAYOUT=Library://Layout1.WebLayout

If you want to remove the Login box, you have to copy paste some code from one
of the Viewer Samples (.Net, PHP or Java).

If you want to design another map without studio, I would advise you to try out
WebStudio. If you feel *really* adventurous, you can try the http interface,
but you will have to be a programmer or similiar to go that way.

[mapguide-users] [Mapguide studio]?

2007-05-29 Thread Mansoureh Sadrykia
Hi Everybody!

I'm new in mapguide and have a question; I've used mapguide studio to
generate a weblayout from shape files and could display it in the browser in
mapguide open source using AJAX Viewer (http://localhost:8008/mapguide). Now I
would like to know if I can do the same (display the map of shp filesin
internet explorer) WITHOUT using mapguide studio ?
I'd be thankful if anybody introduce me some example or document for this.

  Thanks alot in advance,
