There might be an UTF-8 header in the Xml. Try downloading the modified file, and check it with a hex editor. There should be no bytes before the "<" character. I have filed a bug report on the problem. Also, ensure that the document is encoded in UTF-8 (still without the header). I call one function that changes the ResourceID under the Map node of the XML and it generates the above error. Comparing the weblayout XML before and after I change the ResourceID seems to indicate that the files are identical except for the changed mapdefintion. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
