RE: [mapguide-users] re ; mapguide integration with google maps
The KML does not work with the current version of google maps, this is a known issue for google. If you are using fusion, you can theoretically overlay a mapguide map onto google maps in Fusion 2.0. I started testing this last week, but have been too bogged down to finish testing. I was able to overlay my map onto google maps, but there was a coordinate system issue and a problem setting the extents. Jason wrote a script to fix an extent issue and also helped out with the coordinated system since Mapguide does not have it as an option. So the short answer is that there is not an easy way to do it. As soon as I get some time to finish testing with google maps and fusion2 I will document the procedure and post. (But I am leaving for a long weekend this afternoon, so it will not be until next week...) RE: [mapguide-users] re: mapguide integration with google maps
I hadn't looked at the out-of-the-box functionality of the mapagent KML operations, but yes, it looks like quite a bit is broken for Google Earth 5. I had some similar problems with my custom MGOS / Google Earth application (available on the MGOS Demo Sites page) which I just debugged this week. There is a bug in GE 5 where network links do not auto refresh when using onStop viewrefreshmode. Google has acknowledged this bug. To work-around it (for whatever reason this works), the following needs to be in the network link definition: How it normally would be generated through the mapagent: onStop 1 How it needs to be generated to work with GE 5: onInterval onStop 1 I will also add this information as a new Trac ticket. I do not think this is the only problem with the mapagent KML and GE 5, however. It looks like there's other things going on but I have not dug into them. Andy Morsell, P.E. RE: [mapguide-users] re: mapguide integration with google maps
OpenLayers supports both Google and MapGuide layers, so it is reasonably easy to build OpenLayers applications that display both. Check out http://openlayers.org for more details. Last time I did a search for this, I found a sample PHP script that performed the necessary MapGuide layer initialization. I believe Fusion 2.0 also supports Google layers, so it should be possible to combine MG and Google in a flexible layout. The one 'trick' that I found if you want your MG map to align properly with Google (or Virtual Earth or Yahoo) is to assign it a spherical Mercator coordinate system. If you do a search, you should be able to find the WKT definition of such a coordinate system, and drop it into your map definition XML. Chris.
