MI: Changing projections
I received shape files that are giving me some headaches. The files are suppose to be State Plane NAD83 (feet). I used the Universal Translator to convert the shape file into an .mif. I entered US State Plane Coordinate System (1983,feet) and selected the proper state. Then I imported the file into a .tab file and it opens perfectly. Here's where the problem starts: When I attempt to change the projection to Lat/Long 83 to match my other files and workspaces, the file gets distorted (visually) and it is still approximately 1,800 spherical miles north of my intended designation. Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm getting frantic and I will greatly appreciate any help. -- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Apology accepted Chad! Mistakes can, and do happen. Why oh why is it, that all the lessons we learn in life, are either painful or expensivehmmm. I sincerely did not mean to send that message to the list and hoped you would all understand that is was a MISTAKE!!! I have been getting much HATE mail which makes me feel even worse!!! ONCE AGAIN, I apologize to anyone I may have offended, but like everyone on the list, this is my livelihood and my JOB!! I am a new user with not much reference material and this list has helped me tremendously since I got on it! I don't know what else to say to everyone but I am SORRY!! Please try to extend me the courtesy that you would to any of your other business associates and treat me as such. Have a nice day and I hope to hear from all of you real soon.
