MI Information Window

2000-06-09 Thread Brendan O'Brien

Thanks you to all who replied and assisted with my Information Window
problem.
Problem:
"I have just loaded a copy of Mapinfo 5.5 on a PC. There are a number of
layers in the Current map window, however when I click on the information
tool it fails to open an Information Window. Any ideas ???"

Particular thanks to Jennifer Kamel, Christer Justusson, Brian Upton,
Jason Adam, Frank Claude and Tom Carter

I received numerous and varied replies, they solution being.
Open the MapBasic window and type the following: Set Window Info position
(1,1) Go to the end of the line and press enter.

Again many thanks and regards,

MI Thematic Mapping

2000-03-09 Thread Brendan O'Brien

Hi all,

I am talking the lazy way out of solving a problem.

I have map layer of local geographical boundaries (DED's) which
contain population, area, and id columns.

I want to create a thematic map showing population density per sq mile
over a range of values for each DED.

Do I need to create an expression if so what?

Regards,

Brendan O'Brien

MI Thematic Mapping

2000-03-09 Thread Brendan O'Brien

To, Graham, Shelia and Jose.

Many thanks for all your help, the solution worked a treat.

Question:
I have map layer of local geographical boundaries (DED's) which
contain population, area, and id columns.

I want to create a thematic map showing population density per sq mile
over a range of values for each DED.

Answer:
Go to Create Thematic Map
Select Ranges, Region Ranges Default.
Table: Your boundary table
Field: Expression. Type: population/area(obj,"sq mi"), where population
is
the name of your population field.(Note that in this case area is a
MapInfo
function, not your area field)
If the area you have in the field is in sq miles you can also try
population/area, where area is the name of your area field.

MI Document Imaging

2000-02-11 Thread Brendan O'Brien

Hi,

I work for a local authority and our office are considering setting up a
document imaging system
and linking scanned planning application files to our GIS. Planning
applications are already represented
on our GIS as points, the point id will provide the link to the scanned
document. This system needs to be able
to scan, index, view and retrieve 20,000 files. We are currently
operating MapInfo 5.5.

Do any members of our list have such a system operating?
Does the list have any recommendations? love stories?
horror stories?

Thanks in advance
