RE: MI warning message upon startup

2000-08-30 Thread Justusson Christer

Hi!

Rename it to MIDLOCI.DLL_ to disable it. My guess is that it might be
because SpatialWare odbc driver4.0 instead of 3.50 is installed. The same
thing happened here and that was the only difference in installation I could
see.

Anyone know how to get rid of the warning message
"(c:\program files\mapinfo\mapinfow.mnu:1090) MapInfo Database driver failed
to load C:\Program Files\MAPINFO\MIDLOCI.DLL or dependent drivers"
that pops up each time I start MI? And as a side note, what is it for (the
MIDLOCI.DLL, that is) ?
Any help is appreciated.

RE: MI exporting maps to word

2000-08-25 Thread Justusson Christer

Hi!

The fastest way which gives least problems I've found to be like this.
Have the map window active, press Ctrl+C to copy it.
Change to Word and take Paste special and choose Image (I hope thats what it
is called in the English version) instead of MapInfo Mapobject.
Paste special gives an image that is easier to move around in the document.
It's great for day to day work instructions.
Sorry to say it doesn't work on layout window there's the only way I've
found to save window as wmf or print to file.

Have a nice weekend

Use Update column and at Value write objectinfo(obj,3) Now it should be
possible to use Labels instead if necessary which I think is easier to use.

Using update column I created columns X,Y of every

Now I'd like to make a character column with the values of text objects

RE: MI select by color, then change

2000-07-20 Thread Justusson Christer

Hi!

There is a free mbx called stylist by Dave Smith ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and
the code is included. You can find it att http://www.directionsmag.com/ I
use either sql-queries or mapbasic window, something like e g
"StyleAttr(ObjectInfo(obj,2),4)=16711680" in the where clause to select all
red, a little thicker, lines. But I can only do it for one file at a time.
Therefore I'm intrested to know how you do it in a batch.

Hope it is of any help

I need to select all thin yellow lines and change them to a thicker, darker
color. I need to do this for 171 files. I'm the most novice of programmers
so is there any sample MB code someone could share that could help? I have

RE: MI HELP!

2000-06-15 Thread Justusson Christer

Hi!

I've been using MapInfo for 4 years and I have developed same problems as
you.
My remedies are:
1 Like Jaques suggested I have a customised mbx so I can reach common
commands from the keyboard. Today I have rewritten the MapInfo mnu-file
instead. Helps a lot and it also makes you much faster. Dangerously fast
however.
2 I use 2 mouses (mice?). One connected to the serial port and the other on
the ps2. You can also use an Y-mouse from P I Engineering but both NT and
Win98 supports 2 mice. The advantage is that I can make e g a zoom window by
moving one mouse and clicking with the other (the Y-mouse doesn't support
that however).
3 I use a "mousetrapper", a mouse tray made in Sweden. Difficult for me to
describe it. It's a holder for an Intellimouse and you move the cursor with
a rod. You always have the hands right in front of you when using it and it
gives support for the wrists. You can see a picture at www.ergoff.se (click
on Produkter and Pekdon. It's quit common here.
4 Go to www.tifaq.com It's a very good place to get information of all kind.
For example I read something about moving the cursor with the eyes and click
by blinking.
5 My experience is to avoid trackballs and touchpads.
6 Maybe most important of all in my experience. Work slightly slower.

I hope this is of some help
Best of regards
Christer J

I have been mapping with MapInfo for 3+ years.

While I use a light grip on my Intellimouse, the
hours-days-weeks-months-years

I have cause some irreparable nerve damage to my right arm.

Has anyone used, or know of any, alternatives to a mouse?

I have looked at the "Smart Cat" by Cirque, but it appears to still require
some
hand-draping over the device.

If there is any help out there, I would greatly appreciate it.

MI 5.0 is installed one of our machines ( PIII-450, 128 meg RAM, NT 4.0,
SP4) in profile All Users. It runs smoothly for a while, then upon
launching one day displays the message "(c:\program
files\mapinfo\professional\mapinfow.mnu:11) Unrecognized command: Wor&kspace
..."; MapInfo then opens with the following message "The file MAPINFOW.MNU
is missing or damaged; MapInfo is unable to start. Please call Tech
Support".

I searched the archives and found a thread about a similar problem to which
Cindy, from MapInfo Tech Support, answered that the problem might lie in the
startup workspace. I therefore deleted from it a RUN APPLICATION statement,
to no avail.

Any idea of what the problem is?

RE: MI objects not containing

2000-03-04 Thread Justusson Christer

Hello!

Try this:
First select all the points within the polygons
Then make a second query to the table with points like:
not obj within any(select from selection)
Hit Enter and fetch coffee (it takes a while).
I also wonder why I can't use Not together with obj within.
A faster way is to add a column. Select all that contains points and update
those with xxx. Select all without the value xxx.

You can find more information at http://www.spatialtech.se

Does anyone know whether a direct connection exists between

I have a situation where I am exceeding the maximum allowable text
limits for MI.
I am attempting to add in a fairly lengthy disclaimer that has to go onto
all mapping products & find that it can't be done all in one go. I have
tried unsuccessfully:-
- typing it in directly onto the layout window, (doesn't work as it exceeds
text limit),
- opening it up as a delimited ascii (.txt) file, (it opens up in columns) &
- typing disclaimer in sections, aligning it up as best possible & saving as
a table. Trouble is it has to be moved around & manipulated to suit on
different size maps. I guess my question simply is "Can the text limit be
altered say through Mapbasic?"

SV: MI DXF imports (SEND AGAIN)

1999-07-04 Thread Justusson, Christer (UKE)

Hello
I don't know if this helps but:
If your data is composed of point only you can use attribut extraction
(ddattext ) from AutoCad to create a comma delimited textfile. You must
create a template first (see the manual). Then open and save the txt file
from MapInfo. Then create points.
Has anyone tried FME to do this?
Best of luck
