MI-L MapMarker Address Dictionary

2000-10-27 Thread Mike Hankins

I have found a error while geocoding records in Illinois. I called MapInfo
and reported it, but I don't want to wait until the next release to have it
corrected. Can I (and how?) correct the Address Dictionary. I believe the
files are in a .adx and .adr extensions. What program opens these files.
Do most geocoders end up creating their own address dictionaries? Any
pointers to helpful sites or articles would be greatly appreciated.

Re: MI duplicating records

2000-09-27 Thread Mike Hankins

Jennifer, after using the Disperse tool, create a new column for a new zip.
Table-Update column using your employee table and a zip code file, click on
the join and check the circle where object from zip file CONTAINS object
from employee file. Then do a query on the new zip column and the employee
zip to find records that are not the same--i.e. this finds records that were
dispersed outside of their original zip codes.

Re: MI Combining Error

2000-09-22 Thread Mike Hankins

I used to get that error message all the
time.  Since I upgraded to V5.5,  have not seen it once.  If you
are using any version prior to v.5.5, you may want to upgrade.

Operation cancelled" when the process gets a certain amount of the way

Re: MI MapXtreme and Novell

2000-09-13 Thread Mike Hankins

Last week I asked MI-L about not being able to access certain tables. Other
users could open the tables, but not edit them. I received a new computer
Monday and then I started having the same edit problem. We figured out that
my tables were on a Novell server. With the new PCs or some upgrade on our
departments PC package, it messes up MapInfo. I moved the tables off the
Novell server and now the problem is gone. Could the Novell be messing up
your MapXtreme?

MI Re: grabber tool problem

2000-09-13 Thread Mike Hankins

Robert, I have had this problem in MI 5.5. Don't know why it does it. Only
thing I do is click on a different tool and then click on the grabber again.
This usually gets the grabber working again.

MI Multiple users and ownership of tables

2000-09-05 Thread Mike Hankins

My company has had a multiple user license for some time. We are finally
using more than one license and I have ran into some problems. I am
currently the primary user and have created hundreds of tables. The other
users are not able to edit the tables I have created. Is there a ownership
issue with respect to tables? If yes, how can I disable the ownership so
any user can edit any table? If there is no ownership problem, can anyone
tell me why the other users get a "Cannot perform edit. Someone else is
currently editing this table" error. I know no one is using the table.
TIA

MI RE: Line styles

2000-08-15 Thread Mike Hankins

 MapInfo Line Style Editor (MILISTED)
The MapInfo Line Style Editor (MILISTED) is a stand-alone tool that allows
you to create custom line styles for use with MapInfo Professional. You can
use the editor to replace existing line styles, or to add new line styles to
the standard set of MapInfo line styles. Look to the web site at MapInfo
for more information.

MI PDF into Access

2000-07-28 Thread Mike Hankins

I too am trying to get my PDF files to work in a Office product (Access). I
use a hyperlink in the Access table. When the end user clicks on a
particular map they want, a form is opened with a Acrobat icon shown. You
cannot click on the icon, it is just there. I have to click the design mode
on the form and then click on preview mode. After doing this, I have an
Acrobat icon that can be clicked on and the map shows. This is a roundabout
way of doing it and I would like to just have the map in pdf format show
immediately. I don't want the end user to have to work to get the map.

Thank you.

MI wish list for directionsmag

2000-07-26 Thread Mike Hankins

I would like to be able to search on the date a tool or map was added at
directionsmag. I seem to be looking at the same tools or maps over and over
when I really just want to see the recently added tools or maps.

MI Mapmarker and 9 digit zip codes

2000-07-12 Thread Mike Hankins

Hi,
I am trying to geocode a couple hundred addresses. I am able to get the
nine digit zip codes on my file. When I geocode the file, I have to relax
my standards and most of the records get a georesult of S1. Why can't I get
at the minimum a Z3-which is geocoded to the zip+4 level? Many of these
addresses are rural and Mapmarker does not seem to want to geocode with any
acceptable level.
Thank you.
