you can create a DEM ( raster only) in mapinfo 5.0 and greater.
first convert all your lines into pts using utility available on mapinfo
list ( i think its called allpts.mbx or similar). once you have a point file
with height data, just do athematic mapping uding grid thematic option to
cerate a continuous raster image.
