MI MapImagery Plugin
Hi All: Using ERMAPPER's MapImagery plugin and USGS Geotiff files. Have to use the unstretched option when creating the algorithm. Error message says data in straight line. The upper radio button allows an algorithm to be made. However when image is opened the georeferencing is not correct. Areas and distances are incorrect. Heard the this was the way to go to view geotiffs. Am I doing something incorrect or is there a better option? I have just downloaded the ERMapper plugin for MapInfo (MapImagery) and am wondering if anyone else has used it? RE: MI MapImagery
Hi Maxine, I personally use MapImagery, and know many other users who use it. One note - make sure you have version 6.039 or later as there were some minor instabilities in earlier versions. MapImagery is great for viewing ER Mapper algorithms and datasets, but more importantly it now allows you to access images served up over the web via the Image Web Server (IWS) technology (check it out at www.earthetc.com). The IWS is available in several flavours - from personal through to enterprise - and allows you to put any images (such as a large mosaic of high res air photos) on the web. They can then be displayed in MapInfo (+ MapX, ArcView etc) with no more work than if you were reading the images from your own disk. RE: MI MapImagery
Yes Maxine. Couple of pointers. 1. Turn off "Show progress bar during processing" in General MapImagery Options. With ver6030 ( possibly current ver6040, have not tested this yet), when this setting is on, some regions plotted out solid white when printing a layout using both postscript HPGL drivers. 2.When installing MapImagery it sets up to autoload and adds the statement "Run App" to Startup.WOR in the win OS dir. On my system this made the MBX load twice upon launching MI, which created an annoying error message. I fixed this by removing the "Run App" statement from the startup.wor file. GID are aware of this and apparently will be using the Tool Manager in the future. Otherwise I am finding that it is an excellent product. I have successfully been printing A0 layouts of 1m resolution colour aerial images, mosaiced together using ER Mapper algorithms. Overlaying tenure info. and text. Output to HP1055 plotter in HPGL format. Chris (please excuse format, hastily written!)
