MI SUM: pattern printing irregularities

I recieved confirmation from several people, including MI Tech
Suupport. It only seems to occur with HP printers (or maybe,
everybody is using HP printers? Can somebody try and duplicate
this one a different brand?) It happens on both Win98 and NT.

It has been logged as problem  #10158.

Col @ Magnorth reported a possibly related problem, but the
differences occured with colour not patterns. It was cleared up
when all three workstations standardized on the same video
driver.
