RE: MI Geometry Manager
Steve - I was wondering if a couple of passes: snap to point, followed by intersect or ?? might improve your running topology issues. We have found simple intersect is a great detective for object error(s). Further thoughts? I find it difficult to call it a "manager." It does promote and ensure topology, but that doesn't help you manage the problems that come up. For instance, I have a file that I have to edit constantly, and has been through nearly three years of changes. It went from 1,232 polygons to 7,021 polygons after running Topology Manager on it! How am I supposed to handle 5,789 additional, tiny, polygons manually? And "Yes," I do know how to draw maps properly. >It was never assumed otherwise... -- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I don't know anything about GM. But, I do see "the writing on the wall" about MI. I'm beginning to feel like a threatened species as I attend general mapping conferences On Sat, 6 Nov 1999 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > In a message dated 11/5/99 6:13:56 PM EST, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > > > Consider instead the tremendous competitive edge MapInfo would get if GM > > and MapBasic were included in MI Professional, at no extra cost. > > Particularly in areas where ESRI is "giving" away the product in order to > convert users to ESRI products. > -- > To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put > "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] > _ Marjorie Roswell, Spatial Analyst UMBC Center for Health Program Development and Management 1000 Hilltop Circle Fx: (410)455-6850 Baltimore, MD 21250 E: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Ph: (410)455-6802http://umbc.edu/~roswell/mipage.html _ -- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you have a relationship with a MapInfo partner, tell them. With the MapInfo Partners conference being this week (Marco Island, FL), your partner (if attending) may have an ideal opportunity to talk with MapInfo staff at all levels. I'm sure GM will be the discussion of many conversations next week! Re: MI: Geometry Manager - pricing
How does one communicate with MI management about things like this? That is, the huge price of Geometry Manager If I were a shareholder - and this kind of behavior is why I am not - I'd be wanting MI to include a product like this and MapBasic with MI professional. Just how much $ can they really make with a product like this or MapBasic? Surely only a very small percentage of MI users will buy these tools. Here is an opportunity to attract users to MI, maybe even some away from AV and they toss it away.
