Re: exporting contour vector to .MIF
Hi Alberto, maybe just a hint : If your table is stacked with records, try to find out in what geo-reference the table is (projection and geographic expents): maybe your vectors exist but outside the map window or whatever table you use as reference. We had similar experiences here with another desktop GIS where it appeared that our vectors of the southern hemisphere were mapping somewhere in the northern hemisphere. During export, some mix-up happened netxween North / South and East / West. follow up: exporting contour vector to .MIF
Thanks to Ole Gregor and Richard Greenwood for replying to my question. Here are the suggestions: 1. Check the line style MI may be displaying white on white (not the case in my situation) 2. Export to DXF in EASI and import using the Universal Translator. (I solved my problem similarly by exporting to .SHP with the ARC option) 3. Check projections; if the table has records in a browser containing elevation values but is not displayed in the map view, it may be a projection issue. (I've found EASI to be fairly fussy about exporting georeferencing information. My DEM was Albers Equal Area Conic, and Universal Translator let me specify the proper projection once I altered the MAPINFOW.PRJ file) Thanks for the hand... exporting contour vector to .MIF
I've been creating vector segments of elevation contours from a DEM using EASI, but am having trouble bringing these into Mapinfo. EASI exports the vectors fine; I've tried both direct to .MIF and also to E00, then .TAB via ArcLink. The problem lies on the Mapinfo side. After processing for a few minutes, a .TAB is created, but nothing appears in the map window. However, looking at the file in a browser shows that it is populated with records. Any suggestions are appreciated, and I'll collect and post any hints that come my way.
