RE: MI-L Turning Off Selection Highlight

2005-03-25 Thread Peter Horsbøll Møller
You mention that you perform a spatial selection. If you are using SQL you
can always select the records into a names query and add the NoSelect keyword:

Select * From MYTABLE
Where some condition
Into CUR__SELECTION NoSelect

This will give you a new temporary table called CUR__SELECTION

Subject: MI-L Turning Off Selection Highlight

Hi,

In some MapBasic code, I am performing a spatial selection. When the selection
is invoked, the screen begins to flash and the features highlight.

Is there a way to stop the selection highlight?

Thanks in advance.

Martin

MI-L MapWorld 2005 - MapInfo-L pass stickers

2005-03-25 Thread Warren Vick, Europa Technologies Ltd.
Hello all,

After a two year break in favour of local events, MapWorld will soon be with
us in sunny Miami. As I have done in previous years, I will pin some I'm on
MapInfo-L stickers to the notice board. Please take one for your conference
pass and don't forget to say Hi! to fellow -L'ers. The event is an
excellent opportunity to network with other MapInfo users and being on
MapInfo-L is as good a reason as any to start a chat with a stranger. Learn
stuff, meet people and get a tan - prioritise as you wish! I look forward to
seeing some of you out there.

Hey Warren / everyone --

I'll be there! Some of us old-timer-listers need to meet up somewhere. Of
course, you are all EXPECTED to attend my session... 8-D

Sorry that I don't have a MapInfo-L Wish List to hand John Cavalier or
Mark Cattini as in years past. Maybe we can evaluate that process again
after hearing what is planned for the next release.

See you there!

MI-L Obtaining Full Data Extent Coordinates

2005-03-25 Thread Martin Tyberg

Hi,

I would like to obtain the lower left and upper right coordinates that
define the rectangle that completely encompasses all of the data defined
within all layers in the layer control. How can I retrieve this
information within MapBasic?

Thanks.

2005-03-25 Thread Will Mitchell
Steve, my wishes remain in cartography and data management.

Might I suggest a MapInfo-L happy hour? Perhaps Wednesday before the 'beach
party'?

Any of you all send in Maps for the map contest? Last MapWorld there were
some great ones but not very many submissions.

I suspect they'd still take 'em on if anyone had a late idea to send their
best plot in.

Set the focus on the map by clicking on the title bar, and then choose

Secondly.. How can you tell what projection a map is drawn in?

Choose Map Options, and click the PRojections button.

MI-L MI Pro is Amazing!

2005-03-25 Thread Hankins, Michael D.
I am not smoking crack. I have been working on with MI Pro for over 8 years.
I just had the weirdest experience with MI ever. Thanks to Bill and Steve for
the suggestions. As I said before, MI crashed and closed. I found the 3 extra
files MI uses at temp for changes. I reopened MI and started on a different
file while I waited for help. I then tried Steve's suggestion. I couldn't
copy, cut or rename. It said the file was still being used. The table was
already closed. My only MI Pro session didn't show the file. I wanted to try
one last thing and shut MI down again. Still said it was locked. I went to
the Windows task manager and to my SHOCK AND UTTER AMAZEMENT, THEIR WAS A
MAPINFO SESSION RUNNING. It was not showing on the task bar at the bottom of
the page. Your all saying he is smoking something...I am not. So I chose the
'switch to' button and MAPINFO REAPPEARED. The table was there and I didn't
lose any of my data. MapInfo Pro is a truly amazing software. I take back all
the curse words I used when it crashed. Have a wonderful day and GO ILLINI!
