[MI-L] Mapbasic - Passing paramaters to Main

2006-06-12 Thread Brendan Tagg

Does anyone know how to pass (of if its possible to) pass paramaters into /out
of a mapbasic program so that it can be called from the mapbasic window (or a
workspace).

For example an app might be

declare function product(x as float ,y float) as float
function product(x as float ,y float) as float
product = x * y
exit function
end function

Thanks in advance

2006-06-12 Thread gis
Hello list,

Does anyone know of any method of opening ENC files in MapInfo 8.0? (e.g.
Electronic Navigation Chart information) The data format has *.000 as the
extension and is part of the S57 object catalog for Hydrographic Data.

Best,

RE: [MI-L] Symbol Sizes

2006-06-12 Thread Spencer Simpson
There is a (sort of) way of doing this: View your map in a Layout window.

Set the Layout frame holding your map to display a particular scale, and do
all your panning and zooming on the layout. You can create a custom page
size if the area to view is very large.

Don't pan or zoom the underlying Map window, but if you need to edit data or
annotation, clone that window and set the clone to show a "reference scale".
Pan around the clone (don't zoom in or out) and edit objects in that window.

Hope this helps
Spencer

RE: [MI-L] Raster images in different coordinate systems

2006-06-12 Thread Peter Horsbøll Møller
Hi Caroline,

There a few things that MapInfo takes into consideration when deciding which
raster gets the lead.

1. The raster layer covering the largest part of the map
This is mostly the case, at least until the later versions where Ii think they
shifted to 2

2. The upper raster layer
The problem could be that you had to rasters in the map, but only the upper was
visible.
In this case the upper controls the coordinate system.

I'm not quite sure exatly when this changed.

With MapInfo 8.5 these problems are gone. MapInfo 8.5 supports the reprojection
of raster.

Subject: [MI-L] Raster images in different coordinate systems

Hello

I am currently working in an area which straddles the border of 2 UTM
coordinate systems.

Working with raster images registered in these systems, they don't quite
"meet", with offsets, gaps, overlaps and even different sizes where they should
match up.

Does anyone know how MapInfo displays the images in the same window? i.e.
how one raster would be "warped" compared to the other one in the map window?
Or how MapInfo deals with the second raster to be placed in the window when
it's a different coordinate system? I know the map window projection can't be
changed once a raster appears, and that it takes the projection of the initial
raster, but what does it do with the second one?

Cheers
Caroline

way of doing this.
