Subject: MI-L New countries

Does anyone know if there's a place where I can find informations about
any new country or countries which have changed their name since 2000 (or
1998)?

MI 7.0's world map (included with the cd) has 252 countries (and ESRI
2000's base map has 250) and I need an up to date map.

Thanks,
Francois T.-Goulet

Subject: MI-L MapInfo ProViewer 7.8 error

Hi Listers,
Has anyone else had this problem??
Got an update email from MapInfo to download the new ProViewer v7.8.
Downloaded it OK. Tried to extract...ERROR message
"C:\...\ProViewer78.exe
is not a valid Win32 application".

Now I am running WinXP SP2, and the system requirements are for XP SP1a.
Think this might be the problem. If so, will v7.0 work with WORs and TABs
made in MapInfo v7.8? Any of the MapInfo development team have any
answers?
Anyone else?

Don Mitchell

Thanks for any help

MI-L Mapbasic Earth from Space

2003-01-08 Thread Rainer zaiss
I have seen a Mapbasic application that transforms the current map
window in an image like seen from space. I cannot find this application
anymore on the web. I would transform a worldmap to represent it as
cercle like seen from space with a longitude and latitude grid.

Thanks

MI-L Datum topographical maps Uganda

2001-02-14 Thread Rainer Zaiss

We would like to integrate some topographical maps (Series Y 732 1:50
000 and Series Y503 1:250 000) from Uganda in our GIS. The spheroide is
the same for all maps (Clark modified 1880) but the datum is different:

"New (1950) Arc" for the mapsheets publicated 1960
"New (1960) Arc" for the mapsheets publicated 1972

I cannot believe that they have modified the datum between the different
editions. Does anybody know which datum I have to use to register the
mapsheets? What is the difference between the datums "New (1950) Arc"
and "New (1960) Arc" ?

Thanks
Rainer

MI-L DCW (1992) projection

2001-01-18 Thread Rainer . Zaiss

Hi,

we would like to convert layers from the DGW (1993) to Mapinfo. We wanted to
use the FME translator. To make this conversion between the original datas
of the DCW and Mapinfo we have to indicate the projection of the source
datas. I cannot find the projection used to store the datas on the DGW CD
Rom. Does anybody know which projection we have to indicate to make this
conversion ?

Thanks
