[mapserver-users] ippj-5.3.dll was not found

2009-01-08 Thread boesiii

I just downloaded and installed OSGeo4w. I tried to test out mapserv.exe at
the command line but I get and error stating "Application failed to start
because ippj-5.3.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix
this problem"

I tried to reinstall but I still get the same error.

2009-01-08 Thread boesiii

Thanks Franks,

I wiped out the folder and started from scratch, this time I only installed
what was necessary and that worked. I now have a functioning MapServer now
I need to figure out how built a webpage using it.

I was only running it from the command line to see if it was working.

Below is my alias file:

AllowOverride None

Also, you need to have an index.html file located in your tfc directory to

Thanks Steve!

Below are lines of code that I added to my HTML and MAP file to make it

HTML Code:

  function printmap() {
var url =
"http://[host]/cgi-bin/mapserv.exe?map=[map]&mapext=[mapext]&layers=all&map_web=TEMPLATE+templates/print.html&mapsize=650+650";;
// alert(url);
window.open(url);
  }

MAP FILE Code added to MAP definition
TEMPLATEPATTERN '.'

You also need to have an html file called print.html, this is the file that
it opens to put the map file image into.

The only problem I have now is that when I print, my browser adds headers
and footers.

[mapserver-users] Move point symbols (water valves) along a line (waterline) depending on scale

2009-03-25 Thread boesiii

I have a point shapefile representing gate valves for waterlines and some of
the gate valves are very close to each other and you may or may not be able to
view them depending on scale. Is there a way to have MapServer automatically
adjust point symbols (water valves) along a line (waterline) so the points are
displayed at any scale?

ArcGIS does this with a tool called cartographic representation.

[mapserver-users] Question about Mapserver, WMS and Mapcache

2013-05-06 Thread boesiii
I am developing a mapping application using Openlayers, Mapserver and
Mapcache and I am trying to understand all the terminology. Mapserver
without any WMS parameters in the MAP file will return an image based on the
url request. Mapserver becomes a WMS server when you add the necessary WMS
parameters in the MAP file and will return an image similar to a plain
Mapserver setup. When Mapcache is added to the mix, it can generate image
tiles and serve those tiles to users as needed. What is the quickest way to
serve image tiles using Mapserver? The image tiles will act as a custom
background which displays buildings, roads, road names, parcel boundaries,
and contours.

[mapserver-users] Problem with mapserver & python mapscript

2013-05-14 Thread boesiii
I have mapserver setup and working on Ubuntu 12.04 and I need to be able to
use python mapscript so that I can use Tilecache. How do I configure python
mapscript on an existing setup of Mapserver? Do I need to recompile
mapserver? I read the readme file in the python folder and tried to install
using python setup.py install but received an error stating "Has mapserver
been made?".

[mapserver-users] How to join to a MDB database for display on my map?

2011-11-18 Thread boesiii
I have a polygon shapefile showing parcel outlines and an access database
containing owner names. I would like add a layer displaying the owner name
but after reading the MapServer documentation "You cannot use joins to
affect the look of a map", I realize this is not possible.

Is there any other way to accomplish what I am trying to do?

Is there an OGR/GDAL command line function that will export the table from
the MDB to DBF file?

I know I can join the files together using ESRI ArcGIS but was hoping to
leave the files in the original format because the data is maintained by
someone else.

[mapserver-users] Re: How to join to a MDB database for display on my map?

2011-11-18 Thread boesiii
Brent,

I tried your suggestion, but I get an internal server error, when I turn on
the layer. Part of MAP file below:

CONNECTIONTYPE OGR
CONNECTION 'D:/ms4w/apps/ftmagisapp_v2/maps/background/PLOTS.shp'
DATA "SELECT * FROM PLOTS LEFT JOIN
'ODBC:geoplan,County_Taxid_Parcels'.County_Taxid_Parcels ON
PLOTS.SHRT_TXID=County_Taxid_Parcels.SHRT_TXID"
LABELITEM 'OWNR_NAME'

In the apache error log it stated Premature end of script headers:
mapserv.exe, referer: http://127.0.0.1/ftmagisapp_v2/geomoose.html

Does it make a difference if I am on Windows 7 64bit and I am using the
32bit ODBC?

When I issue your text at the command line, ogrinfo starts to open the file

[mapserver-users] I am having a problem using processQueryTemplate...

2011-11-30 Thread boesiii
I am trying to diagnose why processQueryTemplate is not returning any values.
Below is part of the relevant code:

$results = $map->processquerytemplate(array(), false);

I am using MapServer 5.6.6 and GeoMoose 2.4. Below is part of my MAP file:

METADATA
   'itemquery'  'ftma_waterlines_itemquery.html'
   'itemquery-filter'   '/.*[qstring].*/i'
   'qstring_validation_pattern' '.'
END

Does the processQueryTemplate method work correctly in 5.6.6? I found this
http://www.osgeo.org/pipermail/mapserver-dev/2010-April/009935.html which
talks about processQueryTemplate being broken.

Does someone have an easy example of how to use processQueryTemplate, so
that I can better understand how the method is supposed to work?

Thanks

Ed
