[libreoffice-marketing] Changes in announcements of LibreOffice Betas and RC's

2011-05-14 Thread Marc Paré

FYI, On the latest TDF blog post[1]:

"Today we are announcing the fifth beta release of LibreOffice 3.4.

In a slight change of communication strategy for our releases, from now
on we will use the “announce” mailing list only for announcements of
final and stable versions.

LibreOffice 3.4 Beta 5 is being announced on “projects”, “development”
and “localization” mailing lists, in order to allow volunteers to
perform the QA process. Also, the beta has been pre-announced on the
community mailing lists for a first round of QA tests, to avoid the
quality problems of the earlier 3.4 betas."

Cheers

Marc

Hi Charles,

Sorry for late answer (mails filter problem, SL-2011... :-) ).

Yes, I can help if you need.

Best regards.

[libreoffice-marketing] photo of the temporary DVD, Case, and insert

2011-05-14 Thread webmaster for Kracked Press Productions

For the North American Community DVD project:

Linked below is a photo of the temporary DVD, Case, and insert.

http://libreoffice-na.us/the-dvd-picture.jpg

This shows the disc label using LightScribe media, the Case cover, and a
temporary 2-sided "How to use this disc" insert.

I made up four of these so I could hand them out on Monday.

The insert has my contact info, so the people I give it out to will be
able to contact me if they have any questions about the DVD. The actual
case insert has not been finalized, yet, but it is being worked on.
Right now it look like it could be 4-sided to get all the "stuff" that
people want on it. Maybe we could make a small booklet instead of a
brochure style, but it will need to cut down to the size that will fit
in the case [4.90" x 7.35"]. We shall see what it will be like when we
get it done.

If I have the color brochure/pamphlet printed professionally, it will
cost about $1.20 each starting with 40 units. The DVD cover will cost
about half as much. The B&W double sided insert will cost about $0.50
each, since it needs to be cut down to the proper size for 7 inches
tall. The cover has to be cut down as well to fit in the case sleeve.

[libreoffice-marketing] Re: Donation website - how to name it ?

2011-05-14 Thread Bernhard Dippold

Hi all,

as neither the international nor any local marketing team seems to
prefer any of my proposals, I'm going to request the website team to
create the structure for the third proposal.

It seems to be the most natural and easiest to remember approach for our
users - and Christian's comment shows, that it fits better with
Silverstripe's way of handling translations:

Now we should have a more generic URL for donations, and I propose

http://donate.documentfoundation.org

[...]

If we try to ease the access to this page for localized users, a third
possibility comes to my mind:

http://.documentfoundation.org
e.g.
German: http://spenden.documentfoundation.org
French: http://donner.documentfoundation.org
Spanish: http://donar.documentfoundation.org
Italian: http://donare.documentfoundation.org

This would be the shortest version without the necessity for sub-pages.

In some cases we might need to handle different languages containing the
same word for donate by technical means (reading the browser's language
etc) and a language selector.

[...]

Best regards

Bernhard

This looks like a good choice. Thank you for owning the issue.
