Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Reminder: LibreOffice Marketing Conference Call for June 2011
Hi, sorry I couldn't attend, and sorry for the issues with the room. :/ I was unfortunately out, so I could neither join nor fix the room. Let's aim for a new meeting soon... I suspect that Mumble will be an easier solution to use, even if it does not have all the great features of OpenMeetings. The only thing with Mumble is that it needs a special client program to be installed on the conference attender's computer, although it's not difficult to install. -- David Nelson -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Best regards Bernhard Hi Bernhard Thanks for mentioning the coordinates for the servers and client for Mumble. Most Linux distro's have a Mumble client in their package repositories, v.1.2.3 is the latest and has recording capabilities, v.1.2.2 does not. You can report back problems on this thread on the Website list[1]. NOTE: If you are trying out one of these two, please leave us a note on the Marketing list that you are on Mumble or on OpenMeetings for others to see that they can log in and experiment along with it. Note that many of us have admin rights. Just leave a note here or on the Website thread[1] if you are having any problems. We will help out. [libreoffice-marketing] Short Summary of Conference Call
TDF Certification: comments and suggestions We have discussed with Drew some possible issues and some US specificities. We have agreed on the fact that is a challenge for the project, but is something that we have to try if we want to make the project self sustaining. LibreOffice Conference: the marketing track I would like to understand which are the preferences re the marketing track. I personally think that we should have sessions where we discuss global marketing issues (for instance, how to coordinate local projects spanning several geographies) and sessions where we share experiences (and grow our skills in specific areas, like media relations or presenting in public). TDF Media Pre-Briefings will start in July We have received a couple of media requests for pre-briefings, and I would like to start around July 10 with the pre-briefing dedicated to the certification project (very short introduction, and then long QA session). I would like to gather several community members for the pre-briefings, in order to avoid the solo singer effect. Drew, if I have missed something, or if it is too much a personal view, please correct and update. -- Italo Vignoli italo.vign...@gmail.com mobile +39.348.5653829 VoIP +39.02.320621813 skype italovignoli -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-marketing] Cross reference: Discussion on consistent UI theme for screenshots on the design list
Hi all, just to inform you: due to a variety of recommendations for UI themes to be used for official screenshots I'd like to search for a consensus on *one* consistent UI theme for screenshots to be used on - documentation (and it's localizations) - website - marketing material - press kit - DVD (LibOBox) ... Because consistency is important for our Visual Identity and our perception in public, I sent a mail to the disc...@global.libreoffice.org mailing list to collect ideas on three points: 1) how such a UI theme should look like 2) what other conditions should be met 3) which existing UI theme would serve best as standard for screenshots If you are interested in this topic, please have a look at the thread in one of the following archives: http://go.mail-archive.com/TXSpNt-sS7ybaKqPA4TPuaFZriU= or http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/msg02422.html or http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/VI-Consistent-theme-for-screenshots-tt3100955.html For a direct reply to the mail please ask the mail server to send you the mail with an empty mail to design+get-2...@global.libreoffice.org I'll moderate your mail, if you aren't subscribed to the design list. Drew, if I have missed something, or if it is too much a personal view, please correct and update. Hi Italo, Well, there was a brief discussion with Charles regarding the upcoming conference with one track using a BarCamp format (current plan), vs a format with a full day as a BarCamp format - 2 days of traditional conference format, 1 BarCamp day in other words. On the subject of the certification proposal - I'm not sure I'd agree with saying we agreed on a need to try in order to make the foundation self sustaining. I would say that the three of us agreed on the need to address building an ecosystem of competent service providers and that whatever mechanism the foundation puts in place should be self sustaining - however all recognized that it will take a lot of effort both in human and monetary capital to launch such a program. There was also, at the end, a question regarding budgets for local events. It was recognized that having FrODev.org as the current responsible party for expenditures raises problems with dispersing funds outside of their statutory region of operation. That this situation should improve when TDF is finally legal and a need for a process to be put in place for the purposes of requesting and authorizing funding for local activities.
