Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Open Source Directory for Enterprises of the Open Source Business Foundation
Hi :) I sent the emails below to the users list (hiding the email addresses tho) to see if anyone wanted to vote on what they have for LO. I also mentioned that their info for LO was probably a bit out-of-date because we move so fast. I looked around there and found out that we are listed on this site, but with an older version (3.4.2) and no user votes. You can see our entry here: http://eos.osbf.eu/nc/software-directory/sw/Project/list/ if you type LibreOffice in the search field on that page. thanks for notifying us of this, indeed I didn't know about them. :-) If you do so you get also an entry for OpenOffice.org with version 3.3 and 70 user votes. I think we should get in contact with the organisation and update the database. I don't know yet how the user votes on that site works. If it's easy to get an account there and comment/vote, we should do so. Any volunteers for this task? It's important, I think, but I am out of time - so any other volunteer would be appreciated :) Florian -- Florian Effenberger flo...@documentfoundation.org Board of Directors at The Document Foundation Tel: +49 8341 99660880 | Mobile: +49 151 14424108 Skype: floeff | Twitter/Identi.ca: @floeff -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Sun ODF Plugin for Microsoft Office - From Oracle no longer free
Hi :) Is it possible to upload this Extension onto the LibreOffice Extensions website? Is there any indication of what license is use for those older versions? If it is on an OpenSource license such as LGPL or MPL (like LO itself) then it should be Ok. There are quite a lot of these OpenSource or copyleft agreements now. One site I looked at had the following to say: quote Sun released a plugin back in 2007 for Microsoft Office that allowed Office users to work with Open Document Format (ODF) documents. The Sun ODF Plugin was maintained by Sun and offered as a free download. The recent acquisition of Sun by Oracle had an impact on the availability of the plugin. The Sun ODF Plugin for Microsoft Office is now offered for the premium price of $99 per application user plus an annual support fee of $19.80 with a minimum order quantity of 100 licenses. No information are currently offered if the product will be made available to Office end users as well. unquote Now, Oracle seems not to have it on their site anymore. Or at least by the searching I have down on the Oracle site. The I have seen links for free versions of 3.1 and 3.2, even though Oracle is no longer showing it, others sites are. So what do you think? Is it free, or not? Oracle no longer sells it. I cannot find it for sale anywhere. It looks free to me. -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-marketing] Fw: Ubuntu Mentors for Western Oregon University
Hi :) Errr, i am not sure how relevant this is but the LibreOffice community might have the capacity to get involved with this? Would it be good marketing for LibreOffice? LibreOffice is the default Office Suite in most of the big-name distros including Ubuntu so it might help to get an overview of the wider OpenSource Communities and how they fit together in co-operative competition. It also works on Windows so people can use it in a more familiar environment after the course is over, alongside MS Office if they choose. She is focusing a class around contributing to the Ubuntu Community and will need mentors to mentor the 28 students in this class there will be 14 students in each 4 week session and students are expected to meet with a mentor once per week for the duration (I believe there are two four week sessions since it is 28 students total) anyways the areas I need mentors in are: * Bug Triage * Documentation Contributing * Bug Fixing Processes I will need mentors who have a strong understanding in one of the above areas and I personally will be mentoring for Bug Triaging and Documentation but we will need plenty more due to the volume of students. Mentoring will be performed virtually through Skype, IM and E-mail. If you are interested in being a mentor please fill out the following form: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFBtb21RSGdPSWNHTHpYU3FfbzlEMEE6MQ I hope to have 10-20 mentors and I understand I may not find them all within the LoCo so I will be reaching out to other LoCo's and likely various teams to meet the quota and if you know someone please pass this e-mail to them so I can get this important project sailing smoothly. -- Benjamin Kerensa Team Lead, Ubuntu Oregon bkere...@ubuntu.com -Inline Attachment Follows- -- ubuntu-doc mailing list ubuntu-...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-doc -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

[libreoffice-marketing] LibreOffice on TV
Hello all, A few months ago, Vietnamese VTV2 has a program on how and why migrating from OpenOffice.org to LibreOffice is a must. Please skip here to see my face :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpagev=PFowLtr39Ug#t=319s VTV2 is offering me a new chance on TV in this month. Please shed me some ideas what should I talk about LibreOffice in the past 1 year and its future. What are the messages that LibreOffice community wants to send to Vietnamese users and Vietnamese goverment? Recently I gave presentations at the ODF plugfest. They are available here: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Events#Europe (row with ODF Plugfest - obviously) The general presentation will give the idea: LibreOffice makes it easy to join to realise what is important for you has a strong and growing community.
