Re: [libreoffice-marketing] LibreOffice get involved and donation infobars - how often to show them?

2021-04-28 Thread Sreekanth V K
As others have pointed out we can have many ways to contribute and support the
TDF. Is it possible to merge that info together and others can choose according
to their capacity?

Frequent request may not be a good idea. I think an interval of six months
would be good so that it won't look like forcing people.

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Comments to Proposals

2020-11-12 Thread Sreekanth V K
Dear Mike,

Thank you for the clarification. I was in a perception that we will have to
distinguish between the versions which are supporting enterprise and that for
normal users.

I am wondering how this labeling (tagline) will make people aware if there is
no distinguishing factors in offering. Matching customer demand with offering
is our aim right?

IMHO, probably we need to do a customer segmentation and match the customer
with our offering to improve awareness and usability. Please let me know if I
am missing something here. (May be I have missed some points in between during
very active and long discussion).

Sreekanth

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Comments to Proposals

2020-11-11 Thread Sreekanth V K
Dear All,

I would like to suggest the following.
Regarding the label, what do you think about 'Standard'. For enterprise version
probably we can have Premium/Prime/Plus.
Rationale: it have all the standard functionality and if we need some premium
support we need to pay for the same.

Regarding, downloader page, in both pages if we have a comparison table with
ticks and crosses like in case of slack pricing webpage would be good. We need
to list out some important support and product features available in premium
version.

I am just wondering regarding the following if it is easily doable or not.

Have a single Installer file of very small size which will download easily.
Then this installer would allow to user to select standard or premium versions.
While downloading and installing the LO, provide information regarding features
available similar to many GNu/linux show during installation time as a slide
show or carousel.

[libreoffice-marketing] Regarding FreeOffice in Manjaro

2019-08-02 Thread Sreekanth V K
Dear Team,

I am a user of Manjaro for more than three years. I am very happy about it. The
team behind Manjaro believes on convenience over freedom many times and their
point of view is acceptable for me. They gave all the options to user to choose
between the various alternatives (including proprietary ones) to some extend.
There are two things that happened in Manjaro, recently which were went against
Libreoffice.
1. Due to large size of LO, they moved out the LO from minimal iso.
2. They provide FreeOffice in their iso. Mainly planned to give a option
between LO and FreeOffice during installation. This decision came up in the
wake of new partnership between Manjaro and Softmaker. Both of them originates
from same place and Softmaker went to Manjaro and made this partnership. There
are mixed response from the community regarding the adoption of FreeOffice.
The point is that LibreOffice needs to work more to keep it in GNU/Linux distro
also. We may need to reach out to the various distro teams and work out the
deal / partnership.
Anybody can visit forum.manjaro.org (in General Discussions) to read more about
the community reactions on this issue.

Sincerely,
Sreekanth V K

2019-01-13 Thread Sreekanth V K
The last one looks good for me. However, the operation which is happening is
not visible, so for a common person, he/she may not be able to understand the
difference. It would be better if you have the Calc in the background (not just
writing what is going on) and keep the system monitor over the Calc.

+1 Nigel Verity. The illustration may appeal to a lot of people. I know a lot

I am using Notebook bar for a long time now and it works fine for me. I am not
sure if the developers see some hidden problem with it for keeping it

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Self Introduction

2018-10-22 Thread Sreekanth V K
Dear Onyeibo,

Welcome to the community. As a lecturer in State University you could do a lot
by encouraging the next generations to use the LibreOffice and feel the
freedom. It will be great if you could get an idea on how much the LibreOffice
is prominent among the youngsters in your State University and why (in both
cases if they are using and not using). Moreover, you could encourage a small
smart group of students to promote the ideals of LibreOffice.

@Mike. Good effort Mike. The map looks beautiful and amazing work.

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Minutes from Marketing Conference Call, 18 October 2018

2018-10-19 Thread Sreekanth V K
Thank you Mike for sharing MoM. Unfortunately, I could not hear anything
yesterday due to some technical glitches. I am happy and ready to provide any
support within my capacity for improving the reach of Libreoffice in India.

I think it will be better if we could start organizing
events/competitions/workshops focusing on the universities and colleges from
where may get a good workforce and team. We may need to plan well in
introducing the value proposition and implementing it.

Good work Drew. I will be good if we use the LibreOffice's Green theme across
the image and background. Currently only for numeric 4 and bottom only have the
color. In addition to that, due to the background image, it is little difficult
to read the writings in white. It will be great if you could make some changes

Thanks.

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Marketing Conference Call

2018-10-10 Thread Sreekanth V K
Dear Italo,

As I mentioned earlier, I will not be able to attend the conference due to some
personal engagement. I would like to make a note on the following things.

It is important to increase our presence in the social network. However, I feel
that we need to something more at the ground level. We may need to start
Special Interest Groups focused on universities and schools. I know already we
may have such initiatives. But, if you see the reality - I could say from my
experience in Indian scenario - many students use pirated copies of MS Office
and many did not hear about our LibreOffice.

I am not a supporter of business model put forward by Steve Jobs. But recently,
I came across a video regarding his point of view on marketing and it is
interesting - Please have a look if you are interested -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keCwRdbwNQY

This video raised some doubts regarding how we should place our product. Just
explaining many functionalities which may already exist in other Office suites
may not be our selling points. Our values in terms of Freedom, Ethics and all
these ideas, and customer orientation is very much required.

"What can I do for libreoffice" would be a great avenue for the people who
would like to contribute. We may need to design the system such a way that
anyone can come there and start help us in their own way without messing up our
system. Designing the system should not be an imitation of other, but we may
need to sit back and see how are development works and how someone could
contribute to our ecosystem.

I really believe that we need to focus more on mobile devices and even having a
crowdfunding model for mobile application development for FREE office suite
would be an option.

Sincerely,
Sreekanth V K

Yes. I agree.

My concern was that we could mention to whom it would be useful. LibreOffice is
more than a software and it is a philosophy like democracy to which I could
relate it the most.
That is why I added, "For the Humanity/World" similar to "For the people By the
people Of the People" used to represent democracy.

Sorry for late to the party.

"Freedom is here. For humanity, by the community. Be a part of it".

"Freedom is here. For the world, by the community. Be a part of it".

"Experience the freedom. For the humanity, by the humanity. Be a part of it".

"Free Office Suite. Let us redefine the world together".

Image or video would be good option as picture speaks thousand words. I think
we can share the video(not link) in the posts and add the link to the

Also, if possible we can include the link in the video as well.

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Websites we can use to bring in new contributors

2018-05-25 Thread Sreekanth V K
Dear Mike,

Yes. I was referring to the similar events. Having this sprint as a group
activity in different locations would encourage more people to contribute.

Having some goodies - even virtual like small certificate of appreciation -
softcopy would do - would encourage more and students to participate in such
events.

We can have our hack fests and Sprints. We need to encourage more and more
students and young people to contribute. It also should help them to learn and
add some value to their life.

It will be great if we have good collaboration with development team and if
they could classify the issues that could be take up in Sprints/Hackfest into
different levels and mark them as Beginner (Easy Hack), Medium, Expert (or 5
levels) according to their wish. Also it could be prioritized and marked as
urgent, non-urgent, etc. Provide only those issues similar to the way we
present in Sprint week page.

Share this information across different social media and urge the sprint teams
to join us online on one or two days across the world. In case of Mozilla they
used Gitter and ether pad for collaboration.

Most important thing is that if the contributors/sprinters have something to
take hope as a token of appreciation would encourage lots of people to join.
Even stickers, softcopy of certificate would be a good option.

We can take this up. Is it possible to get contact of the people who organised
the hack fests in past?

Sincerely,

Sreekanth V K

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Websites we can use to bring in new contributors

2018-05-23 Thread Sreekanth V K
Dear All,

Recently, I participated in Mozilla Sprint 2018. The similar concepts would be
a good way to reach out to the people and community.
We can have Sprint like concepts for the Libre Office projects alone with
appropriate promotion.

The steps that could be solved are:
1 . identifying the pain points need urgent and crowd support to solve it.
2. Asking the community to put forward the necessary items to be solved.
3. Select the list of projects to be used for Sprint of 1-2 days.
4. Provide platform for learn, collaborate and implement solutions.
5. Promote the events by sharing the mementos and goodies to the early birds
and great contributors.

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Details of the Upcoming Event: Free Software and Linux Days 2018 (OYLG18)

2018-05-17 Thread Sreekanth V K
Good Job Muhammet. I hope more of this kind will be coming from different parts
of the world. Good to see more and more people are getting interested with
LibreOffice.
