It's not about you but how, as a user, I find my answers on the net when they 
have already been published. Tweeter doesn't allow that where Ask is one of the 
answers. No need to replicate what already exists with the wrong solution, more 
over if that is exhausting contributors, it's just the wrong  tool.

It's about 60 PCs, study about migration has been conducted last year
and the decision to migrate was taken by the end of 2017. The migration
project is conducted over the 3 next years.

Dear community,

the year 2015 is over, and we have achieved a lot of exciting things,
thanks to your amazing work, dedication, passion and support - thank you
so much for being part of our community and working with us on the joint
goal of fostering LibreOffice!

In order to support the community even better, we would like to create a
better budgetting process, have a concrete plan for 2016 already now,
with a few "pools" or "buckets" defined, ideally:

1. community events (aimed at getting face-time for community contributors)
2. infrastructure (e.g. compute power/hardware/storage, cloud, VMs),
3. marketing (aimed at representing the project to the outside world)
4. other (anything that does not fit into the above)

The idea is to have a good plan for 2016 already now, while keeping the
administrative overhead low, and have two authorizers (one of them being
a board member or deputy, the other one from the wider community)
responsible for each budget, which means getting receipts, approving and
tracking expenses, and clarifying questions with Florian or Sophie.

To get a better understanding of your needs, we ask you to send us your
budget requests within *three weeks* from this e-mail, i.e. by
2016-03-02 to flo...@documentfoundation.org

While I monitor some of the lists, please always send your
proposals/requests *directly* to me so they are not lost!

Please let us know your requests for funds *alongside* some items you
envision to be paid from these funds. The items are not binding, the
spending in the end is the responsibility of the authorizers, but some
examples help the board in getting a better understanding of the funds
required to best match your needs. If possible, please also mention the
amount of travel costs associated. We'll factor in some margin, but
concrete numbers and ideas are very much welcome to have a plan for 2016.

As a sample, a request could look like this:

We'd like to request a 2016 budget of
1000 € for community events
500 € for infrastructure
1500 € for marketing

Expenses we envision are
1. marketing: attendance at XYZ trade show to show LibreOffice to ABC
user group (700 € booth costs, 300 € for collaterals and 500 € of
travel, totalling to 1500 €),
2. community: a community weekend to discuss tasks and ideas (600 €
hotel, 100 € for snacks and 300 € travel, totalling to 1000 €),
3. infrastructure: dedicated server to QA localized versions (500 €)

Alongside that, we will also provide some mechanism in Redmine for
approvals and tracking of expenses, and will follow-up with details on
this later on.

I was trying to upload your designs on the shop, but unfortunately, I
need only the text and the logo, not the image of the T-shirts, the cap
and the mug. I don't have the size of the printing area
Could you send me the files with only that?

TDF is setting an online shop at http://www.spreadshirt.com/

The items I've collected for the shop are listed below. Now, we need
designs for them and we need your help :)
Keep in mind that it should remain something simple (if it's too
complicated, the print won't work or will be expensive) and suitable
with our visual elements here

FR project has one that is outdated, and there is no ongoing work on the
marketing/documentation side, so no inforgraphics, brochures, etc.

All the tips should go to the FAQ if it's not already there. What goes
on the wiki don't go on Pootle (well, except for the Help which is a

ah, we were not aware of those necessities and you are here to avoid us
doing stupid things by doing nothing. But unfortunately, it's not how it
works in an open source community. We don't kill initiatives, we
encourage them and enhance the process all along to come to something
satisfying to most of our users. If you're not happy with that, either
you collaborate to the process or you don't use what we propose. There
is no place for discrediting or discouraging others work here.

Currently template are on the Templates site. There is no workflow about
their internationalisation. But after this contest, to populate the file
in LibreOffice we will need to set one, this was discussed on other lists.

It depends on the category of templates. For Writer for example, a
simple letter presents a lot of differences depending on the country
(it's even not language specific). The page format will be different,
the date, margins, location of the addresses, ect...

Yes. The time frame for 4.4.0 is too short but we don't want to kill the
enthusiasm of the Design team, so let's have the first contest for en_US
and the localization team will then work on their internationalization.

Yes, that was a late request but let's go for it. The issue is that the
Start Center has a new button for templates and the folder will be empty
under several components. That will solve this for the en_US version
which is the most downloaded. The localized versions will have an empty
folder and the contest will work for them later.

I'm not sure users are aware of all the needed things to have a reliable
template and one that could be localized too, so the best way would be
that the design team does a pre selection and let the users vote only on
the templates that complies.

manage our owns, but nothing prevent this to change :) As for why it's

Yes, we use to have the NLP/l10n meeting here too. And as I said, this
was added when several members discovered too late about that day
because it was not advertise, or they thought it was private.

You're right but when the program will be online, it will be clear that
the first day is a community day and I guess those people out of the
community will look at it before coming. And if I remember well, on the
old time we didn't took this day into account for announcement, but this
was confusing too for the community.

We have a proposal for a free ad in a magazine. The *deadline* is *Tuesday*
The need is:
a high res PDF, either:
- 210x147mm with a 4mm bleed
- 105x297mm with a 4mm bleed

Could somebody help with a 4.2 dedicated ad? that will be greatly
greatly appreciated, as you know several community members are
preparing/attending Fosdem.

[libreoffice-marketing] Proposal for the call for location of the 2015 conference

Hi all,

In order to ease the organization of the LibreOffice conference and help
the team who manages this task, I would like to propose that the call
for location for the 2015 conference to take place end of March.
That will allow us to announce the 2015 conference location at the end
of the 2014 conference.
Note: it takes about 3 months between the call for location and the
announcement.

I agree too, I think highlighting top 10 or 5 features for each release
on the website is great, even changing them for micro releases, and link
to the complete detailed page on the wiki for those who want to know more

[libreoffice-marketing] General release organization meeting

Hi all,

In order to try to have the best organization for the release of 4.2.0
that will happen in February, I would like to organize a meeting between
all the projects concerned to make sure we don't forget anything or miss
some deadlines and coordinate well together.
It would be good to have this meeting during RC1 period (16 to 22 of
December) so we have still some time left before the final release. I've
set a Doodle here :

We will use the marketing channel on IRC and it would be really great if
we could have people representative from :
- design team
- marketing team
- QA team
- localization team
- native language team and members who administrate website in their
language
- developer team
- documentation team, I'm not sure this team is really concerned but
feel free to join :)

If I miss somebody don't hesitate to tell me :) And please follow up the
discussion on the *marketing list*.

I will provide an agenda of the meeting on the wiki next week, where
you'll be able to add the points you want us to discuss. I would like to
keep it short for all teams and we will do another meeting if one team
feels it's necessary.

Yes and the workflows depend of the type of the task, we won't use
owncloud for QA or BZ for documentation, so the organization is adapted
to the tools and we can't have one for all.

As part of my work, I'll coordinate the communication flow for the 4.2
release and will organize such a meeting on irc by mid/end December.

For me the wiki is not a file repository, it's really too difficult to
find things on it. Beside this there is no private area. When I ask for
a repository for marketing it was because most of the PR are share
through the mailing list and it's error prone on versioning (most of the
time I wait for the announcement to make sure I don't make mistake). So
it's easier to contribute when the material is well organized too.

owncloud is really not difficult to use and imho easier than the wiki.
But the purpose of the two is different too, one two store files, the
other to put content, I don't see where it overlaps.
